Re: New DSI instrument!

This is a really dumb question, and I probably already have the answer. Does Tempest include Simmons re-creations?

Oops, I meant two vocoders. Haven't given myself the chance to own a talkbox yet.
I made mine for under $50 [minus an amp], so it's not a huge loss if you decide it's not your kinda sound
Nice! If I ever get back into recording with a mic pushed p to an amp, I may consider doing the same.

Re: Anyone here using a talkbox?

Just to be sure Horace, you mean a talkbox, as opposed to a vocoder, right? I've already got two of those. Talkbox yes. You have two? have you tried using both at once? That would be crazy. I've wanted a VC10 for forever, but it seems everyone else does too  And Distorted_Frequency, those are ...

Re: What was your first Moog?

You should see about getting her something of similar value (to her anyway) for the next Anniversary.

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

I see. You probably answered my question, in any event. Two spots I was thinking of were a scene 1-2 minutes after the opening credits and the climactic scene near the end. (I'd mention specific time spots, but without a DVD, that's not presently possible.)

Re: New DSI instrument!

Man, if I hadn't just gotten the S90 XS, I'd consider investing in this machine.

Oh well, I like the drum voices on the Yamaha, so Tempest can wait.

Re: Video clips from "classic" movies featuring electr

Enjoy :) Star trek: the motion picture - Trailer (1979): http://youtube.com/watch?v=dwivz3gECus the sound effects heard throughout this trailer were done by Alan Howarth using a Prophet 5 rev 2 (on four tracks) plus an Arp Avatar. Didn't Jerry Goldsmith use an ARP 2600 for the drone effects during ...

Come to think of it, I think I owe that marker some of my earliest exposure to electronic sounds.

Re: What was your first Moog?

So far, the only Moog I've owned is my Voyager. I thought at length about getting Moogerfogers, a Source or one of the economy models, but I ended up getting a Voyager first.

Alan Parsons Project: "Don't Answer Me"

Out of curiosity, do any of you know which synthesizer or drum machine was used to create the handclap sound during the chorus parts from the Alan Parsons Project song "Don't Answer Me"? I know that Parsons, himself used the Fairlight IIx to great extent on that album, but was that the synth used fo...

Re: Movement Systems Drum Machine

That reminds me of a matter I might've already mentioned on this forum. Do you have a Simmons SDS-7? Can you comment on its reliability, especially compared with the Movement gear?

Re: My iPod apps - can they be loaded into iPad?

No prob... Check this out, it turns out the Camera Connection Kit lets you plug in audio gear over usb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWVXsNJEL0M Though it's old news now , but just in case ... Any core audio or core midi / class compliant device ( meaning works on OSX/Win with no drivers ) will w...

Re: Movement Systems Drum Machine

There's nothing wrong with being a gear slut. As long as you take care of it and do make some use of it. The Movement series sounds like it should've been included in the Vintage Synthesizers chapter "It Came from the Music Industry.," which described a series of instruments which glimpsed the futur...
