Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

A little known secret is that the very last grey ones had the updated keypad that the black ones have, as well as a lot of bugfixes in the circuit....they came out with firmware 1.10. There aren't that many of them around but if you drop in the v1.11 chip they are better than the black ones because ...

Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

Yep the MMT8 has 2 great things going for it - fast song assembly, and it retains its memory when powered down. No loading songs after powering up.

Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

Did anyone ever figure out how to make an actual song with the Kawai Q80/EX?? I had one many years ago and it would have been the perfect MMT8 replacement except that I couldn't figure out how to make a song out of it by assembling patterns together , like the MMT8. It was exhausting interpreting th...

Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

MPC sounds interesting - I'll have a good read-up about it. In general, its the sequencer I'm after, rather than a sound module or sampler. I have 2 V-machines as my modules and will never use anything else for live playing, and since they can be anything you want them to be soundwise I don't want t...

Re: Casio RZ-1 System Exclusive (SysEx) Implementation

Have you tried dumping to a data device instead of a computer? Such as an Alesis Datadisk, Yamaha MDF2 or other device of that same era? My Casio Vz10M was not able to successfully dump to computer because of that similar handshaking bastardry, but it dumped very well to and from my Datadisk. Maybe ...

Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

My aging MMT8s are still going great guns but sometimes I wonder if I should move on from 1987  I need a sequencer that will do everything pretty much that the MMT8 does, except that it can store a lot more. Doing a brief read-up on the manual for the XL7 seems to show that it is the front run...

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

Great news! Glad it now works :)

Sometimes its the uploader program that creates the difficulty,I think I tried Bomes SendSX and it worked without problems. MidiOX may also work well.

Re: Roland MS1 bios update problems

That's ok.... I give this freely, it was given to me freely. I myself have got things freely from places, never to be seen again on them. I just like seeing people solve their problems and the excitement they get when a dead machine suddenly springs to life again. It's funny, the MS-1 - there are so...

Re: Getting a Casio CZ5000 - hit me up on all the goodness!

So it sounds like the CZ-1 is more like my VZ10M, which arranges things that way. Was the CZ-1 later than the CZ5000?

So does the CZ5000 also save OP MEMs in the same way as the CZ1?

I got it today. It's surprisingly big and beefy! Not at all like the teeny cute CZ101.

Re: Getting a Casio CZ5000 - hit me up on all the goodness!

That's great info! I'll play around with it and see what I can do. I bought the CZ - my band mate picked it up and is bringing it over during the week. I just realised that I have the CZ5000 service manual - here it is on my band website, if any one is interested: http://www.warningwillrobinson.com....
