Re: Getting into Modular synths

I'm also considering going modular. Anyone with experience of building their own case? I know Doepfer offers a DIY case kit and it's a h**l of a lot cheaper than the A100 cases.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

I use circa 1974 vintage Pioneer SE-405 cans like these... http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b211/KrazyIvan526/pioneerse405.jpg I paid 75¢ for them at GoodWill & they're the best sounding headphones I've ever used... I have a lower numbered model. Paid 5$ or something at a flea marked. They're a bi...

Re: Headphones - what do you use?

Wouldn't be too optimistic about those replaceable cables. Have replaced mine 2 times after the plug of the original broke. They make bad contact somehow. After some years of the first replacement one side eventually stopped making sound, and my current cable is very sensitive, touch it, and one si...

Headphones - what do you use?

Just got back from the store with some: Sennheiser HD25-1 II http://www.dmcworld.co.nz/images/standard/HD25MKII-.jpg ...and I love them. They're sitting tight, light weight (140 grams!), produce good and clear sound and all the parts are changeable so if I manage to destroy something I don't need to...

Sounds good! The main lead coud be a bit more "sparkly" in my opinion, but all in all it sounds very nice.

Re: Macbook specs for Protools LE and Mbox 2.

My understanding is that Pro Tools LE will only run on Digidesign-approved hardware, either Mbox or Digi rack. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I thought a Pro Tools laptop/MOTU Traveler interface would be a killer combo, but was told it wouldn't work. :( I think thats true. I stopped using Pro Tools.

Re: Macbook specs for Protools LE and Mbox 2.

I would not recommend the Macbook + Mbox 2 combo. I actually just sold my Mbox because it f**k up a lot on my Macbook. There's something strange about how the macbook and mbox interacts with eachother. Try to "google mbox macbook problems" or something and you will get a lot of hits. I am now borrow...

Re: Novation DrumStation Demo

Nice. Been looking for a good demo for a while now. By some weird reason the aiff. sounds really distorted on my macbook (probably the soundcard). Mp3 sounds fine.

Could you do a more slow funky house beat?

Help me find a video! (TR909 and modular jam)

Hi

I remember watching a nice video with some dude jamming on a TR909 and a modular. I don't remember what kind of modular but I believe it was silver or white (doepfer, AS, modcan?) and it was a quality video with good filming. The music was sort of minimal houseish I guess.

Re: In need of a rhythmic beast

Ok, so you are used to sample based machines...the 707 and DX are not the big warm round type of fat... I'd say that you may as well go for the Machinedrum based on what you are used to. The Jomox machines are wonderful, but in a really analog way. However, putting samples of the DX and 707 in a 88...

you know, I don't [too lazy to record as of late], but the listening lounge over on the Elektron forum has tons, also the compilation Actuel put together in memory of Daniel [elektron guy who died] is great, regardless if it was made on Elektron gear or not...it's like $5... Thanks. I checked out t...

Re: Arrrgh missed out on a MonoPoly locally for $125

Sucks.

I actually could have gotten a "old Roland with wood on the sides with nice helicopter sounds" for free, but when I got back to her it was thrown in the trash. I was depressed for weeks.
