again: I'd also be interested in sending the SID chip to someone in the u.s. who has done one of these midibox sids, for him to make one for me (fully midified, with a BankStick, with a white, red or blueish LCD and probably without the enclosure on my expense off course) and ship the board with ev...

There might be some people on the midibox forum that want to get in on the PCB buy as well. It looks like I’m getting the main PCB from our generous friend Jon but I would still like to get in on the small PCB order. Is there a savings if we do the Mouser buy together? Remember you have to factor in...

If multiple people really want to go in on getting the boards I would probably be willing to participate. Although I still haven’t found a C-64 at a thrift shop and am somewhat reluctant to pay $20 or more for a chip that may or may not work, through the mail. Has anyone priced out all the NUXX comp...

I've read a lot of glowing reviews on the legacy collection in places like sound on sound. Is it really as great as they say it is? Does this software + controller work if bought used? I know that with some software they won’t allow you to pass down the registration.

I have to agree that old computers and old software aren't obsolete. My main computer is a used Gateway running Windows 98 SE. I use Windows 98 SE because I like it better than all the operating systems that came after it. My last computer was running Windows 95B and had Windows 98 applications run...

dear otto, youre right that old synthesizers often dont have company support, but there are people around to keep them going. correct me if im wrong but arent there compatibility issues with old OS emulators and certain plugins? mini Perhaps, I don’t use any real old plugins. But I hear a lot of pe...

I thought it sounded like a lot of other softies. A bit generic and it sounds like every patch has some white noise mixed in to give it more of an aggressive sound.

Vocals (FX, auto -tune, Pitch shifting, etc)

I’m looking for something to use to mess with vocals such as Brian Eno does on his latest album our The Knife do on their stuff, etc. I’ve read that a lot of people are using Auto tune for pitch shifting and the obvious autotune vocals that Daft Punk and Cher do. I’ve notices that Yamaha puts out ch...

I felt really deprived when I first came on this site comparing my gear list to theirs, but then I realized two things: A) A lot of people on here ONLY have synths, not drums and guitars B) A lot of the people on here have had more time to get gear. I've only been a musician since 13, and just got ...

I had the same guitar that I played on and off for about 4 years through middle school and high school. The guitar, an amp and a stomp-box or two was about it. I was really into punk and hardcore and didn't really think about synths. I did like some industrial in my middle school days when NIN and m...
