Re: Some general MS-20 interfacing questions

Oh yeah, I thought I'd read that about mobius somewhere. Can you also scale the voltage with the mobius? My EML takes 1.2 v/oct...

Re: What are the common problems with the SCI Prophet 600?

Not a very bloopy/bleepy synth IMO, the envelopes aren't real fast. Not that it can't do some of that but there are many other synths better suited for that including the one you have... I think it's strengths are thick pads, strings and haunting dark sounds. I think the LP is a great synth as well ...

Some general MS-20 interfacing questions

So it’s HZ/V. What does it work well with and what does it not work well with? The MS-50 and SQ-10 are obvious but expensive. I’ve heard people recommend the Moog CP-251 but being V/Oct, is it that usefull?

Does the MS-10 add much as an expander or not?

What are the options for midi conversion?

Re: MFB Kraftzwerg worth it???

Build your own case. The MFB website also has a eurorack format version of the kraftzwerg. It’s the same thing, just fits into your modular. Really it’s hard to beat the price for how many modules you get. A great, cheap way to kick off a modular. Modular vs non modular. In this case it seems a bit ...

Re: What are the common problems with the SCI Prophet 600?

I love my P-600. Best $400 I ever spent, and I'd still dig it at twice the price. I'll second that. x3. One of the best bargains out there, great sound that is characteristically "prophet" but has its own unique flavor. I know there is some polarization on this synth. It does seem to be a bit of a ...

Re: What are the common problems with the SCI Prophet 600?

Yeah the steppy filters are just par for the course, it’s a pretty common “feature” of early synthesizers with processors, just perhaps a bit pronounced in the P600. So on one hand it’s not really the synth you’d get to twist the filter knobs while playing live, although the stepping can be used as ...

which is why I passed it up but I know they are rare and people pay mad money for them. I'd wager it would sell for more on ebay.

Re: Wow... EML!

oh man... I love how old skool and lab-like that looks... I realize it's just the orientation of the units (plus whatever that stuff is at the bottom-what are those buttons for? "If you reconstitute the aperature of the unilevualer quadrupulator, and punch in a hex key of the base root of 2..."), b...

Re: How much money have you spent on music gear in your life?

I was thinking in terms of net total spent on all gear but it's interesting either way. The way I see it, if you buy a piece of gear for, say, $500 and then sell it for $300 then you'vr spent $200. I'd guess I've made about $5k-ish give or take. That's probably nothing compared to some other member...

Re: buy an iffy arp 2600 for $1000?

Synth repairs are generally less expensive than people think. So long as you take it to someone who knows what they are doing, preferably someone that really knows that particular synth. Of course if you take it to someone who doesn't know they will charge you for their learning curve and you might ...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY AUCTIONS HERE!!!

They've been selling for less on ebay (mid $3ks) and if this has been in storage for 19 years it probably needs to see a tech.
