Re: How much money have you spent on music gear in your life?

I’m not sure I understand the concept. Are we just adding up the cumulative amount spent on gear? Or are we also making deductions for gear sold?

Re: MFB Kraftzwerg worth it???

It's got a lot going on for the price. I've got the MFB Synth II which is pretty much the non-modular counterpart. It's a decent little synth, especially for the money. It's actually got a nice vintage sound going for it. Since it’s modular you can always add to it. If you picked up something like a...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY AUCTIONS HERE!!!

This is intesresting. In addition to the 101 it also appears to include an early version of the 400/401 synth and sequencer combo. The sequencer looks more or less like later models but the 401 synth side looks like a prototype or custom job. The left half looks correct but I don't know what's going...

Re: Help choosing my first synth

You could buy a used MS2000. It's basically a microkorg in a real synth package with full sized keys and knobs. It would be a good synth to learn on too... The micron can be confusing for a newbie because its a lot of synth packed into a limited interface. a knobby interface such as the MS2000 is a ...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

Yeah, just commenting. A new SEM is on my list of “want to try that”. I vacillate between using the SEM as the basis of a modular system or not. My irritation are: - That it is stand-alone and not really a modular component. I’ve thought about buying the drop in and making a patch panel to put it in...

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

I haven't had either so I can't comment from experience. There was an extensive thread on GS about SMD components. It was unrelated to synths. They were actually talking about preamps and such. The gist was that the tolerances and such on SMD components were different than through components, there ...

Re: Best Synth(s) in $1000 - 2100 range

The Virus is a nice synth is you want VA/Digital. You could pick up that and a Matrix 100 rack (which depending who you ask does and does not sound like the P'08 but does use the same or very similar chips). You need a PC editor for the Matrix 1000 but it comes loaded with 1000 patches and has good ...

Re: over-consumerism

Yeah, I need to get it back under control. My problem is that I find good deals and fixer-uppers to flip. That brings a lot of stuff in, most of it isn't stuff I keep but all of it is a distraction. To compound the problem it gives me more money to spend. So I start looking at the lowly gear I do ha...

Re: Blofeld vs TI

The blofeld looks interesting for the price but the few knobs looks like a difficult interface for a deep synth. That has kept me away. So you are a big fan of the Emax II? I’ve been thinking about the Emax I a bit due to it being the last of the E-mu analog filter devices. I suspect the interface i...

Re: Anyone else notice there'e a Little Phatty SOLAR edition?

I think it came up in a thread a while ago. It would definitely stand out and the added CV options are nice. I like the color orange but I’m just not digging the look. I’m of the less is more philosophy in design and I actually like my LPs plain and monochromatic. I even prefer the rubber sides to t...

Re: Sequential Circuits 6 track-what's it worth?

Haha, I was curious about the c64 stuff as I do have a commodore. Apparently they all originally came with the C64 stuff but probably a lot of it was lost or thrown away. It’s probably more valuable if you can find the right person but I suspect most people don’t really care about tools to interface...
