Re: Wow... EML!

I'm glad you like the 500, I had a 101 about 6 months back and really disliked it because of the filter. But the ring mod was really fat. what a rare score! Yeah I realize it isn't for everyone. I think that's a big part of why it resonates with me. It is just so different IMHO to most other vintag...

If I could pick up a 101 for a good price I would.

Re: Wow... EML!

Actually, I passed on it about a year ago. I didn't know much about it at the time and I think something else came up and I didn't have money for both. Between watching EML videos and finding out the synth had more to it than I thought I asked if the guy still had it and he did. I know of another on...

Re: Filter + env + LFO pedal/box

The MFB filter-box seems to meet your requirements. It doesn't have an LFO but it does have a step sequencer to control the filter, which could be used like an LFO. They are discontinued but you might find one.

Re: Wow... EML!

reminds me a little of the Cat (the "bender" slider at least)-I guess that and the 500 were both following ARP's design. Sort-of. The Cat was obviously very influenced by the Odyssey, inside and out. EML realized that the Odyssey and Minimoog were very popular and wanted a piece of it, so they put ...

Wow, that sounds like a really crappy interface. No thanks.

Re: Winter NAMM 2010

My thoughts exactly. Obviously the mungo has the whole tactile "feel of using a hardware synth" thing going on but the nord modulars can do a lot of things this cant. @$10k I just don't get it.

EDIT: $12K

Re: Wow... EML!

It looks like there were 2 variations of the EML 500. I have an early model. The later model added a couple features including oscillator sync which would be nice. The other feature I haven’t deduced yet but they have 2 additional switches, one for the sync located under the oscillator section and a...

Re: Wow... EML!

Yeah I need to get my computer set back up so I can record again. I can see that the EML sound wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. It tends to lead you down the path of sound exploration that leads to the creation of robot beeps and bloops, deep space drones and 50’s-60’s B-movie soundtracks more-so ...

I used to own modern dance or whatever it was called but I have to confess I barely remember what Pere Ubu sound like. If I remember correctly Pere Ubu and the Dead Boys were previously part of the same band that split… or something like that?

Re: Sequential Circuits 6 track-what's it worth?

The sequential max is basically a repackaged Six-Trak. The reason it is probably valued less is that it’s even less knobby than the Six-Trak and VSE says you need a software editor to edit the sounds. I don’t know if this is true, it has enough buttons that it looks as though it should be programmab...
