Re: Analog Polysynth suggestions!

I always thought the Poly 61 was kinda grungy and edgy.

Re: What is your favorite pad synth?

I've had a few brilliant pad synths pass my way the last few years so i'll say a little about each: YAMAHA TG33 - Lovely vector goodness, 4 independant tones (2 sample, 2 FM) which can be mixed and faded between to get some lovely evolving atmospheres. The FM parts are very musical, and the samples ...

Re: Rediscovering the Yamaha AN1x - step sequencer

it also has very cool feature in that the sequencer, aswell as a note track, has a control track, try adding bursts of white noise on 2 and 4 beats to add a snare sound, i once managed to have a whole bass hat snare hat dance rhythm going on by using FM and noise on filter decayed square waves, it's...

Re: interesting custom jobs

AHAHAHAHA, have i got a custom job for you! I'm really not sure what the h**l you're gonna think when you see these photos... One of my An1x's (My original one) had been gigged since the day it was bought, it was battered, half of the paint had come off, several knobs and even a few keys were missin...

Re: Cheap (<$200) synth controller

There are a few Yamaha boards that feel nicer to play than literally anything else i've ever owned. The keybeds just feel nice and fast, i can play stuff on them i couldn't on say, a modern Fatar keybed. They include the DX11 (Which i assume you'll get for $200 as FM is currently unloved) and the An...

Re: Dipping my toes in an analogue bubble bath...

CS15 it is then! I can get one for around £500 so not too bad. They look really good when the black plastic sides are replaced with wood. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rScBRKlTdoE/TM48iWtOdvI/AAAAAAABrqA/2SfNw2GroHE/s1600/!B7KD1j!EGk~$(KGrHqMOKjcEycdM8Hz%2BBMzbQIo0Vg~~_12.JPG My father-in-law is a carpe...

Dipping my toes in an analogue bubble bath...

I'll be taking the plunge and buying my first Analogue synth (or synths) this christmas-time. I've had DCO based stuff before like the poly800/DW8000 but am gonna be buying 1 or 2 nice pieces to make some bubbly basses/leads and the odd special effect sound; and also to twiddle some knobs for fun. R...

Re: What is the best FREEWARE for Pads?

http://evm.110mb.com/free.htm EVM Ultrasonique is my go to for pads, you can make them evolve and move with it's 16 step sequencer that can control filter or one osc's pitch (when synched you can appreciate it'll make cool sounds) :) Multiple waveforms including saw, square, triangle, choir ahh, mul...

Re: Casio

I don't think there is a full size keys one but there are slightly bigger ones with mini keys (still bigger than the SA8's micro keys) from the table hooter website: Instruments of this hardware class also include the midsize keyboards Casio SA-21/ SA-38/ SA-39 (all same case, 5 drumpads, 2 speakers...

Re: What are your thoughts on the Casio HT-6000? (Just got o

It's Digital Waves run through analogue filters, the waves are interesting and allow you to come up with many sounds you won't find anywhere else. It's a h**l of a pain to program, one alpha dial and a load of numerical values to change (and you have to read the manual to find out which number equal...

Re: Korg could make some easy money if...

Yeah, software does dominate, I have a number of reasons i think it'd sell though. 1. Form over function, i reckon if you put it in a whacky case with 37 keys and painted it crazy colours, people would be all over it, there are a lot of fashion conscious hipsters making electronic music who'd love a...

Korg could make some easy money if...

Dear Korg, From what i've heard, this whole MOD-7 engine in the kronos is amazing, it loads DX patches, has a PCM oscillator, and all sorts of crazy ways of modulating the operators. Well... Why not put it in a standalone synth? FM synthesis is one of my passions, and we all know how it can create t...

Re: Gear Envy.

Lots of insightful posts, I had just an An1x for years, and learned to do EVERYTHING on it, even melotron sounds! I think, these days, the availability of softsynths has seriously reduced my GAS...Certainly I have no desire to get any more digital stuff, the plugins like the M1 and Wavestation legac...
