Re: Analog mixer for Recording: Soundcraft 200b or Yamaha RM

If you like multitracking then RM800 is for you, because it has dedicated tape outputs and inputs, plus 8 busses, which is quite unusual for that class of mixer. 200B is more of a downmix device. I heard a lot of good things about RM800, although I have never owned one - it's actually quite rare on ...

Re: a synthesizer sounds production question

Can you rephrase the question into something less convoluted? It reads like you were high on something when you wrote it... Anyway, certain sounds are results of a specific characteristics (often electronic signal path) of a synthesizer, so there won't be equal-but-opposite way to recreate it, if th...

Thanks
As long as we won't see the output voltages, we won't know for sure - but the probability is high. it seems someone modded an AT PC power supply here, and omitted cooling.

Re: Kawai K1r - K4r

It does contain some similar sounding samples, but it's a completely different synth - so not compatible with K1 in any way.

Re: Korg T3 distort on a lot of sounds on all outputs

Check voltage on the PSU, there's a very common problem with cold solders on old Korg power supplies, also one MOSFET breaks over time.

Currently a somewhat love-hate relationship, but I'm not regretting the purchase.

Re: Kawai K1 & Roland PMA-5 MIDI jacks powered or not?

You are confusing things: this is basically a passive box using MIDI signals - usually between 3.3 and 5 volt (about 5mA). Unlike newer technologies, MIDI was not designed to provide power, as devices it was meant connect were already powered. In fact, most devices provide galvanic isolation of MIDI...

Re: Choir Sound?

Hi all, just a general question! Ive always loved a specific type of "choir" sound thats used sometimes. It's not quite like the mellotron choir although that is amazing in itself. The example you provided isn't even a choir. That's pulse wave filtered, with heavy vibrato, a bit of chorus and too m...

Re: New Synth Poster - every synth ever made !

Yes, really! Over 275 hand illustrated synth ...out of several thousand... Not what I call "every". Plus: CS1x is not physical modeling, it's S+S - MU50 with additional wave ROM and matrix interface nearly literally nailed onto it. Prophecy wasn't even the first. You are thinking about VL1 and JP-8...

Re: Help finding source of sound (I think it's a preset)

Which analog synths sound similar??? It has a specific filter sound that is smoother than an ARP or Moog, but rounded too, like a Japanese synth (Yamaha and Roland). On those albums the keyboards were programmed sometimes. Which analog synth was popular in the early 90s??? That's a bloody FM trombo...

Re: The most influential electronic instruments of all time?

The documentary was The Instruments that Changed the Music Forever, unfortunately I can't find the complete release data (it seems to have been pulled off Youtube as well) Anyway, the general consensus is, in order of appearance: Hammond B-3 organ, EMS VCS3/Synthi (arguably the first truly portable ...
