Re: Hardware sequencer resolution

Yeah you are welcome RD9 for a quick reply on a decent thread bump! Zam Talkin' bout some decent bumps! I've been thinking a whole lot about PPQN and stuff. I want that 100% timing (where the window is completely tight) -not 99.98% or 98.99% timing. Where every god-damned hit of the sequencer is 10...

Re: Clock sync on Sequential DrumTraks using Ableton?

Just googling around for PPQN values and trying to get an idea of how it affects swing, stumbled upon this thread so I'll just make a reply if anyone is thinking about this. What you would to sync gear with "External Clock/Click In" (like the SH-101 arp/seq) is cut one of those "clicks" (i.e. a puls...

Re: Versatile and favorite sequencers: What's yours?

How d'yall like THESE APPLES ??!!! http://s24.postimg.org/aeshwpao5/photo.jpg LOL, just fired up ye olde Yamaha C1 Music Computer, finally found the CAPI (hybrid of VAPI+SAPI) driver on a floppy and am running Sequencer Plus Gold! It sure does have a funky feel to it (timing, swing, etc.)… 8x Hardwi...

NICE.

MEK/Pro One + Poly Evolver/Prophet 5/VS

hmm how about
MS-20 mini + Alesis Andromeda A6 LOL

My dream synth is the Elka Synthex, guess I would try and find that for ca. $5000 and multitrack it for mono stuff also :)

Re: DSI MEK receiving pitch bend CC on all channels

Is there a way to just turn off controller receive on the MEK? That sucks. I don't remember mine doing that, but my setup was pretty minimal when I had it. Yeah it is possible but then you miss out on everything like channel pressure, modulation, velocity and stuff… The trick is to have the MEK on ...

Re: DSI MEK receiving pitch bend CC on all channels

Fact: this is an un-squashed bug in the Evolver OS (maybe it's been fixed in the newer PIC EEPROM upgrade they sell on the DSI site, I don't know)
But now I'll just have to have the MEK on a seperate MIDI interface...

DSI MEK receiving pitch bend CC on all channels

Hmmm, my newly acquired MEK is receiving Pitch Bend MIDI CC on all channels (I've tried it directly with the Elektron Turbo MIDI interface) and no matter what I do (change the channel on the MEK, change the output channel, etc.) it always receives the Pitch Bend values of other tracks (Ableton Live)...

Re: Adding a keyboard to an analog module (Synare PS-1)

Reviving here... Have you tried sending CV into the pedal input? The pedal interface is like a CV loop (to be sent through a volume pedal). I haven't tried it with mine, but the oscillators are scaled somehow. Adding gate/trig would be a fairly straightforward. Did you try emailing Brian (with the ...

Re: Soundmaster Stix st 305-thread

I wonder, and this is pure conjecture till I see the schematics, if the reason your machine plays all sounds at all times is that the connection of an incorrect power supply has blown the RAM. This happens with the Boss DR-55 too, there was a stupid rumour that you could run it off a 9V battery, bu...

Re: Soundmaster Stix st 305-thread

I want to give this thread an update for 2014. I've got two of these and one is busted, so I'm gonna fix it. I've been looking everywhere for the voltage and specs of the PSU and I've finally found it! I found this photo here, which shows the underside of a European version of the Stix (different gr...

I've been out of the hardware loop for a little time now (focusing on arrangements and mixing) I'm starting to get ye olde fever back! My heart and body tells me to get the original, vintage Sequential Circuits Prophet 5 but my modern mind is telling me to try the new Prophet 12 or 08… I just can't...

Re: Tangerine Dream, Late 1981.

And when they switched to digital synths, their music just sounded flat and uninspired. Digital synths. The future of synthesis (along with analog), mostly Vector and FM, totally unexplored regions of synthesis. A hyped over-statement. It's like not realising that Kraftwerk are still advancing, yes...
