"Unsolved Mysteries" TV show theme. Synths used?

I really love the theme song to "Unsolved Mysteries" from 1987:

Does anybody happen to know what synths were used to make this theme? It sounds pretty expensive, Synclavier maybe? I always assumed it was the D-50, but maybe something else? Any guesses?

Re: The Fighter - Paul Hertzog-ish martial arts theme

I listen to the reissued BloodSport and Kick Boxer soundtracks on CD all the time, and I think your song really captures the Hertzog charm. ;) The melody's remind me a bit of Italo Disco as well. You have made a lovely song! I hope you intend to make more music like this. In the liner notes to Blood...

Re: Getting ARR1 into a sampler

Ninja6485,

Thank you, I will try method 1 that you mentioned. I will load a piano into one side of the sampler, split it, load ARR1, and tune to that.

Getting ARR1 into a sampler

I have a single 2 second sampled sound of "ARR1" from the fairlight. I would like to get this sound into my hardware sampler, but there is no indication of what key the sound was taken from. Does anybody have a high quality multi-sample sound set of this sound with an indication for each sound as to...

Wow!
:D
Thank you very much for posting this!
I really appreciate all the work that went into doing this.
I would like to do this with the original ensoniq mirage library, but I don't know if I can since syntaur.com still offers the original disk for sale.

Re: Vintage samplers: dealing with memory limitations

I use the mirage to record long (6 second) samples. The most important advice I could give is to check your sound levels and adjust them by ear. A decent 10-ban EQ comes in handy when sampling from old sources like TV-commercials from old VHS movies, and don't be afraid to re sample something over a...

Re: Roland S-550: clean/dirty?

I'm a former owner of the Prophet 2002 and I used it along with my friends Roland S-550 for a while. I think that if you already own the Prophet 2002, the S-550 doesn't have much new to offer. The sound is clean but compared to the Prophet 2002, I find it to be too cold/sterile. I would consider own...

Re: Biyang CH-8 chorus pedal

Their analog delay seems interesting. I have their Flanger and although it is a little extreme, It can be fun for an exaggerated effect. I used the BOSS Ce-2 for a number of years, but never found the Depth to go deep enough (I even had one that was made in Japan). I'm not too fond of the chrome enc...

Biyang CH-8 chorus pedal

I recently sold a $200+ "Retro-Sonic" analog chorus pedal. If you are familiar with the BOSS CE-1, you know that the Retro-Sonic is supposedly the modern equivalent. I now have a analog chorus pedal called a "BIYANG CH-8" and I just wanted to say, I think this is the best chorus pedal you can buy fo...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage

I think the ensoniq mirage is a wonderful sampler to add to a midi setup! I waited a while before buying one because I was influenced by other peoples complaints for years; but you shouldn't be. The manual and advanced samplers guide are easy to read and use. Both manuals were written by native Engl...

Re: Japan "Burning Bridges"- what synths?

This really is fascinating info! I have a copy of the "Gentleman Take Polaroids" LP hanging on my wall.
GTP was/still is my favorite Japan album. A wonderful album for cloudy days and more inhibited states of mind.

Re: Roland MC-50 MIDI Sequencer? Good for techno?

I have some experience using the MC-50 as well as Rolands MC-500 mk1 from late 1986. Long songs should be no problem because you can always store more songs on separate disk. Keep in mind that pitch bending steals away notes, but yeah, 40,000 is more than you might imagine. Reading through the manua...
