Hagair: I don't own one myself, but I have played with one. Funny story, I got a Juno 60 and a friend got at Multitrack. I was seeing green after I played the multitrack, no joke, I think I prefer Sequential's gem to the Juno 60 any day. By the way, cool ad you posted! I have the Aug. '85 issue of K...

Cool

Lumpy: I have a few other vintage synths, but all are analog, so I figured this would be a cheap way to add a few digital sparkles to the sound. oberheim: I was thinking of layering some of the shimmery sounds, I imagine it won't be anything so great as a TX816, but for now, maybe a good way to add ...

The K5 demo

That website featured a sound page demo from an older keyboard magazine.
It's entertaining to listen to, some of the simmering sounds would probably sound nice in a mix, but those horns and organs, now THAT is late 80s cheese.

Thanks y'all

Sealed: I see, that must be where the "baby Synclavier" title comes from. Since the K5 doesn't sample, it was a bit confusing to hear it called as such. It seems like absolutely nobody wants a K5 these days, prices are bargain basement. Lumpy: Thanks for your feedback. Maybe there are some sound exa...

Well I don't necessarily believe the ad. I'm skeptical and wanted a little feedback about the synth from people who have spent some time with it. No reason to be ugly.

The Kawai K5?

I was reading through a December 1988 issue of Keyboard and there is this 2 page ad about the KAWAI K5. The ad features praise from 2 very creditable artist. The ad reads: "As a longtime fan of additive synthesis, I was very pleased to discover the K5. It's a wonderful instrument. I would recommend ...

These post are cracking me up
I can't stomach any album after Twitch, and even that one I feel is half good.
Later Ministry is proof that guitars don't necessarily make you kool.

The SQ-80 baby!

Bought one last year, mint condition with an old "eNSONIQ" hard flight case. Paid $350.00 and don't regret it for one minute. It does all of the PPG Wave sounding basses I like. I highly recommend the sound disk that Sam Mims created for the SQ-80. You can get them here: http://www.syntaur.com/esq.h...

Woah!

Wow!

Thanks a million. I just picked up a MKS-50 a few days back, and I will go try out the patches.
I bet those JX patches are good as well, almost makes me regret selling off the old JX8p.

Thanks again 8) :D

yeah,

Seems like every few months or so, I get interested by the D-50, because I hear it on so many odd ball albums from '87-'88. I may eventually get the rack mount version in the distant future, but for now, maybe I'll just pick up some Voice Crystal cards for my M1. Those sound impressive and some soun...

Korg M1 or Roland D-50. Which has better keyboard

I currently have a Korg M1, but I was wondering if the Roland D-50 has a better feeling keyboard. The M1 just feels so stiff and weird to me, though I love the sounds it can make. Since both units are in rackmount form, I could go either way. If anybody has played with both keyboards, which has a be...

Thanks Nathenscribe!

Looks like something I'm most definitely going to check out!
That and the Art Of Sampling CD, if the Pro Rec CD is really a piece of s**t,
I'll just skip it.
I'm mainly looking for those wonderful breat noises used by the Art Of Noise.
