You have to read the Reid story. He had to knock down his neighbor's garden fence to get it in the house after he found a unit for sale in Australia. I got to touch the Zimmer/Emerson/Jones GX-1 when it was being sampled at Alesis for the Vintage Synths card. I'll bet Eirc Norlander kept the tapes f...

There's always Voyager RME, which you can use tabletop. Around the same ballpark as LP. I know you just sold one, but it was largely for price reasons, right? Some of the Studio Electronics stuff sounds nice in that range, especially for hip hop stuff. Listen to the first demo song on their homepage...

Hah, you have a vision of GX-1s in a warehouse like Raiders of the Lost Ark? If this were in fact true, they would have been destroyed long ago for tax writeoff purposes. I work for a Japanese manufacturer and have seen guys breaking circuit boards with hammers and throwing them into a dumpster. Any...

I would find the Xpander much more musically interesting. But I find analog instruments have a soul and character that I haven't found in any VA synths, to the possible exception of Scope. Not to mention that the Xpander will continue to gain value, where the Nord will be worthless in a few years. D...

This demo used Minimax (in Scope hardware) for the bass, with loopback into the virtual external input for overdrive. Also Super Jupiter (Unison synth at end) and Andromeda (most other synth parts). It was my attempt at the NIN sound.

http://www.trippler.net/files/mp3/cornyprody.mp3   Prodyssey and Stylus drums Killer demo! You haver to send that to Sonicore. They kick the a*s of every other VA out there by a factor of 20. I'm very close to going all-in on a Scope system loaded with Bowen synths. My brain is saying ye...

This might be a good way to go: http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=5 If you want the LPF to be on the bass itself, then yes you would need power. But the Moogerfooger is made for the application you mention. It can track the input using the envelope follower, or you can control the ...

Sounds like an analog lead to me, perhaps with noise modulating the filter or something, and played through a Mutron phaser. Check out audiodamage.com for their Phase One plug in to get close to that sound. Great chord changes on that record. I'm going to have that stuck in my head all day now. :) A...
