Re: Thoughts on the Red Witch Empress Chorus?

I had one briefly and I didn't like it - for synths, it sounded great with a guitar. Now, my tastes & desires might be different from yours. When I was out looking for a chorus at the time, I was looking for one that could do both subtle and over-the-top. The Empress did subtle pretty well.... Howev...

Re: Minimal Setup Discussion

most everything else will be melted down into gold and forged into a compact modular. No such thing as a compact modular :) Modulars are like cancer.... you either eradicate them via painful therapy or they simply grow, morph, and migrate. Stab, it already sounds like you know what you're doing. Ju...

Re: Balanced outputs? On vintage synths?

BF said it best. Look through the manuals to see if ins/outs are balanced or not. Older gear typically does not have balanced ins/outs. As far as patchbays are concerned. I would get a patchbay with 'balanced' ins/outs, however MAKE SURE you use the appropriate 'instrument cables' for the instrument...

Re: Reverb pedal for x0xb0x?

Maybe try the TC Nova Reverb? My buddy has the Nova Reverb & he is quite happy with it, however I'm not quite into the TC reverb sound in general - it all really depends on what you are looking for. Personally, you should get over your distaste for racks :) You can always put your MD on top of a ra...

Re: Favorite "dirty" synth?

1) Evolver - I've never heard something spit and sputter like that thing. When it gets angry, you know it! I created this one freaky patch that sounds like gas bubbling though thick, poisonous, alien amniotic fluid, and when it surfaces it vomits acid on you... The digital clipping, the tunable feed...

Roland SVC350 & Shure Beta 58a

Just figured I'd let everyone know that a Shure Beta 58a running through the Roland SVC350 sounds great! (I'm pretty sure any dynamic mic would work pretty well, I just never owned one before now :)). Prior to getting the Shure, I was using an audio-technica 4040 condenser mic. I like the AT, howeve...

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

I'll report back as soon as I get my mittens on the MF-104z. It'll be at least a week, maybe two, I ordered it from Germany (Thomann.de). I am certainly looking for a detailed report in two weeks time. I'm marking my calendar now to remind myself to check in with you if we haven't heard back from y...

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

I don't want to be the bearer of bad GAS, but OS2 really makes it a new machine which is much better than the old one. Gasex taken.... I mean point taken :) Well, that is definitely good news. My buddy has a TimeFactor - I told him to update its OS so I could have a go at it again :) I'm still look...

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

Stab, how does is the v2.x OS of the TimeFactor faring as it relates to my comments below? I'd be interested in hearing your impressions after checking it out. The weak feedback was my biggest complaint. When I say weak, I am referring to: 1) The lack of self oscillation (UFO takeoff/landing) - coul...

Just wanted to let everyone know that I sold my mackie 1202 vlz pro to Alexis Champsaur (Tchammosaur). Alex was easy to deal with and provided $$ and information in a timely fashion.

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

Johans121: Did you have OS2 on your Timefactor? Apparently they upped the maximum feedback to 110% in the new OS because there were a few people who thought it didn't get crazy enough. I'll be checking this out, I want to be able to make the sound of a UFO taking off with it. :D No sir, I had one o...

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

Things I love, in order of priority: great (analogue) sound, delay modulation, tap tempo, expression pedal inputs, warranty. Things I don't like: too mushy or dark repeats, bad analogue emulation, line6 :) I will add that the AD202 has delay modulation, the initial repeats are distinct, and dependi...

Re: Delay pedal for synths??? Moog? Memory Lane? etc...

The Eventide Time Factor is pretty amazing, and offers a lot of variety. I had a Time Factor for a little while. It was definitely a nice pedal, however it didn't jive with me very well, for the functionality I was looking for at the time. The delays were nice, for sure, however I thought that its ...
