Re: XBASE 808 or other TR808 alternative.

Has anyone checked out the new Xbase 808 yet? I'm looking for a new drum machine that is the closest sounding drum machine to the TR808. I personally don't think the 888 would be a good substitute for an 808, if what you are looking for are the 808 sounds. As the website says, the 888 is not a clon...

Plenty of demos here at the Jomox site, at the bottom of the page: http://www.jomox.com/product_details.php?lang=2&category=1&product_id=10 Cheers, Graham For what it's worth, I don't think the demos on the jomox site do it justice. I just caught a pretty serious cold I don't know if I'll be able t...

I haven't forgotten my people........... I was extremely busy with "real" life this weekend. Didn't really get a chance to record anything. I'll get something up before next Monday.... It probably won't be anything special though as I have a feeling I'm gonna be pretty wrapped up with work an' s**t....

Argh! That sux. I'm probably going to get a new laptop soon. I might get a Mac just so I can get numerology (2.0), assuming that I won't have problems with cubase sx3 on one.

An analog delay routed into a chorus is my favorite effect. Especially on a mono synth, I even like it on some drums. Of course certain effects sound better on certain instruments, however in general is what I would go with if I had to choose one basic effects chain. Ibanez AD202 into a Boss CE300 =...

I'd only be interested in the 888 if I could get really good 808 samples for the ones missing in the stock 888, especially cowbell . There are PLENTY of very good 808 samples all over the net. Here's site, I'm sure you can find much better though. http://machines.hyperreal.org/manufacturers/Roland/...

Ah, I have a new beast destroying my studio as well...the Metasonix TM-7. Can't imagine that paired up with a 888... I bet it would be sick! I put together some CGS65 Tube VCA's recently. They provide lots of sweet tube distortion (especially if you feed the output back into input2 :twist...

I'll try to post some this weekend. I am seriously floored by this machine. ...and I'm not one to hype new acquisitions up. God only knows I've gone through lots of gear without saying a thing about 'em... The ONE thing I am "disappointed" in is that I thought that the 888 was primarily black. Mine ...

....It calls itself the 888.... Everything about it smells of blood and rage. The moment you hit play it punches you in the face and kicks you in the gut! "Wow" is all I can say! This thing has certainly exceeded my expectations! I wouldn't really compare it to an 808... It would be like comparing a...

... I have been corrected ...

er, yeah... There would be no point in it having a USB connection if internal audio couldn't be routed straight back out to the mixer. Uh... sure there would, for something to use it after being initialized by a host program... Ruff, in the future could you offer constructive advice rather t...

Re: Wait, wait, what?

looks pretty dope... having the USB out kind of negates having a sound card I guess!! NOT TRUE!!! I don't think the mixer acts as a computer audio interface the same way a sound card does. Meaning, if you didn't have a soundcard, I don't think your computer would route the audio from a CD/DVD/mp3 d...

As you already stated, it's the preamps....... hmmm... ok, so if I'm mainly using the line ins and never pumping the gain, is it worth my while to seek out a pro version? (then again, they seem to run at the same price, so I guess I should just go for the pro) I personally would spend the extra $, ...
