Re: Novation K-Station

Craigslist! - if your in a metropolitan area. Otherwise ebay is a good option, I have seen them go for 200usd mostly and sometimes less. I got mine for $125 usd off craigers, and ending buying a few more boards off the guy over the next year. It's a great synth- you cant go wrong. Only thing I disli...

Re: microKORG vs. K-Station

I'm going to have to go w/ the Novation if your a player as the keys on the MK are really small and feel crappy. You'll have more control over parameters and the build quality is way better. I love the K, the only thing that bothers me is the small number of keys, but if your looking for compact I'd...

Re: Using Compression on Synths?

I also have good results w/ the Boss CS2 for Synth Bass ,Elec piano, and some Guitar. I dont really use it as a limiter but it does even out the response especially in the low end in regards to bass and piano. I tend to agree w/ Stab here though I would attenuate all your patches so they have the sa...

Re: Playing live - stereo or mono

I usually send a stereo line( backing tracks from the lappy if there are any) to the D/I on stage, the rest is mono from a fuzzy little practice amp on stage that I'll have miced.

Echoplex Looper Midi Triggering Question.

Hey all, I just picked up a Gibson Echoplex(w/ loop 4) and its immensely addictive ! I've been playing w/ a Boss RC20 for ages and after 3-4 yrs finally was able to line up the cash vs. availability quotient. I'm excited to use the midi function w/ drum triggers hopefully making it easier to...

Re: audio interface vs workstation under 800$

Not sure if this helps but I find it loads easier to edit on a computer than say 'punching in' on a hard disk. One thing for me is having the visual waveform- which can be zoomed in on w/ monitor thus making it much easier to see if you are clipping or how optimized the waveform is. I would say gene...

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

-take breaks while recording, 3-4 min walks are great.

-keep your cords minimal and separate from power cables, mute tracks occasionally to listen for hiss and ground.

-have fun.

-try to finish that last song before you start 3 more.

Re: sequential circuits six trak: totally underrated.

I was interested in this synth for a while but declined the purchase after playing w/ one for a bit. The biggest letdown was the tweakability issue, being that its interface only allows so much control w/ only one data pot. That said many other synths of the mid to late 80's suffered as well when mi...

Re: Do you hate when bands...

To be fair, I once heard live a really great Drum N Bass live drummer! . The full show set wasn't very long because he got tired out after all that athletic speed drumming but it was authentic and QUITE ON POINT =D> ! It was the Minneapolis band "Poor Line Condition". I hope that drummer guy is sti...

Re: lofi sound stuff

Old CB mics are a dime a dozen and sound fantastic. so true- just cup your hands for different width-strangling effects- fyi in most cases you'll have to splice a new jack or replace the cable to get it to work w/ a mixer/interface. running stuff through amps and then mic'ing the output is good as w...

Re: Phase Shifter Stomp Boxes - Which one? (also MuRF)

I have the Boss ph3 and the Murf. the Boss ph3 is good if you have a limiter/ compressor ahead of it. It tends to unpleasantly break up in the high range if your sending a hot signal, its great on elec piano and guitar, and good on synth if you have the the cutoff taking out some of the highs. Its n...
