Do you mean a burst of noise sometimes? If so and it's the demo it's because it is the demo version. Otherwise possibly something is overloading somewhere or you are running out of RAM..I sometimes got the same thing with the full version of the Arturia's Modular.

Re the analogue emulations, by the time you slap on reverb and delay and put them in the mix it's hard to tell the differnce. If stuff is more prominant you can probably tell. For the digital stuff it's probably harder to tell. As Mitch says then you have a whole bunch which are not emulations, like...

well Phat, generally there aren't so many presets on Reaktor. What you get is basically a synth/effects/whatever making kit, prebuilt synths (VA, FM, Wavetable, Additive and exotics) from NI, effects from NI and then then on top of that you get access to ahuge library of completed synths/effects and...

Hi, I'm thinking of getting a 2nd external drive for my aging PC (the idea being to keep the Cubase and softsynths on it's internal drive but the Cubase files and audio on an external with another external for back up of the those music files). You mention SATA and RAID. I accidently went to the PC ...

Reaktor5 is a good call. It ships with some pretty advanced synthesisers and the library is full of interesting stuff both as synths and effects.

I started with hardware, went mainly to software, going back to hardware. If there was no hardware I'd continue making music.

I'm generally satisfied with VSTs. I prefer hardware for reasons of the sound in some cases, because some have knobs and are easier to work with than a screen for me and some I just would like to own for no particualar sensible reason. However, I don't have the space or the funds. So I have some har...

ok, so we are saying that if you have a 2 oscillator synth the beating sound is due to the two souls fighting? Maybe some of the synth the soul goes round the karmic wheel if notes are assigned to cycle through the oscillators?

I'll second the RAM suggestion. I don't know FL but does it have a freeze function?

Rather like people the SH101 seems to have certain spots where it goes batshit if you press on it. All part of the mythology that analoue is somehow more alive.

I'm not familiar with Synth1 but it's an analogue emulation type thing? So sawtooth, a touch of detune, take the low pass filter cut off down, maybe add some chorus. For a free chorus, go here http://www.kjaerhusaudio.com/classic-chorus.php and also have a look at the rest of the guy's classic serie...
