Re: iPad vs Android tablets

I guess what I was wanting in the tablet/iPad environment was instant use (open the lid and it's on), low power consumption/long battery life, small size, stability, ruggedness etc, in a live band situation. ie all the things I don't have in my netbook environment. And to replace my hardware synths...

Re: Evil Poly Pad Machine

Carey, your description of the P600 potentially being more versatile than the Polysix intrigues me. I mean of course on paper it totally makes sense with the features and all, but the sounds I'm hearing between these two videos kind of contradicts that. At least in tonal range. I always considered ...

Re: Evil Poly Pad Machine

Both would be great for that thrashy slasher flick sound. But I'd say the P-600 is more versatile and can be a bit more "evil".

Re: Magellan love...

Edit: Dammit this thing sounds awesome.. Agreed! Magellan is probably my favourite iOS synth for analogue style leads, keys and pads. I especially like the Voyvoda filter, great character. For snappy plucky sounds I find the envelopes a bit lacking though, and the Magellan filter is a bit weak. And...

Re: How much is a Moog Opus 3 worth?

I agree, the Opus3 ain't worth 1000$. But having owned a great many ensemble synthesizers, I'd have to say the Opus is probably my favourite. Omni and even the Multiman-S have a better string sound to my ears, but as a whole package the Opus edges them, for my tastes. Loved the multimode filter on t...

Re: What ever happened to Geddy Lee's giant Oberheim/Moog Sy

I honestly don't think these people care about what synthesizers Geddy uses on stage. I've often heard people ask 'what about the 8-voice of Geddy Lee, how did it get so high?' Did you wonder if it oscillates like an ordinary synth? I know it, and it does. :D And you're my fact-checking pals.

Klaus Doldinger Being well aware of his other achievements, but still.. everytime I hear his name... all I can think of... is Josef Matula getting his a*s kicked and this brilliant little theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWwAWbZlmyo If anyone has this on a 7", I want it. Also, Josef Matula RIP.

Re: Andromeda tips & tricks thread

By all means, use the individual voice outs through a decent mixer. This makes it sound much better, as the internal summing device of the A6 is pretty bad, and the "voice panning' is a hit-or-miss modulation affair, not true discrete voice separation. This is my #1 must-do tip, and it's not in the...

Re: does any synth sound better to your ears than an Omega 8

I think the best is to get an A6 when the next chunk of money comes in, and then use the DSI PEK at the studio and I can get the moog obx sounds on the next album or whatnot when the music sustains itself. If anyone thinks this is unwise, could they sound too similar, something I dont' see, then pl...

https://soundcloud.com/matti-juhana/alesis-andromeda-moogie So, after selling my Jupiter-6 a while back, I spent the money on an Alesis Andromeda that I received yesterday. So far, I've barely even scratched the surface, just been doing basic programming to get acquainted with the interface and sou...

Re: Favorite IOS Synths

I haven't tried that many, but Magellan is definitely my favourite iOS synth. Samplr is wicked fun, but so far I've been using it just to toy around. But yeah, Magellan. Sounds good, sequencer, bi-timbral, nice control options, Core Midi I/O.. I likes. DM-1 is great as well, with Core Midi it'd be f...

And oscillator sync. And I've always liked the basic sound of Prodigy (and Rogue, and Source) better than the Micromoog. I can understand why some prefer the Micro though.
