Re: prophet 8 in this james blake clip

Thanks for posting this. I was just today wondering what synths Blake might have used on his album, I totally dig the production. And his voice as well.

Re: DSI MoPho vs MFB Synth Lite II (for live use)

I thought Synth Lite II is DCO, not digita?. As the MFB OSC-01 description would let you believe:

Re: Synth examples, post them here.

Nice! Great sound from that combo! Any plans to make them into longer tracks? Btw, nice to see you post here again! Thanks dude :) The theme on the second P-600 demo is something that I've been playing with on the piano, and is probably going to end up in a Nightsatan track in the near future, mayb...

Re: Synth examples, post them here.

Made a couple of crappy demos of my newly acquired Roland Juno-60 and (reacquired) Seqeantial Circuits Prophet-600. Posted them on my home town's synth-geek-community's blog, thought some of you VSErs might be interested... http://turkusynth.wordpress.com/2011/03/16/roland-juno-60-sounds/ http://tur...

As a former Omega owner, if I was looking for a 'Modern day Jupiter-8', and money was no object, I'd get an Omega. The discrete VCOs and the 12dB SEM filter make for some great JP-8 like pads for example.

Re: TR-808 vs. JOMOX 888

If I was looking for something modern that sounded like a TR-808, I'd get the Acidlab Miami. And I did. And I no longer have 808-GAS. MFB boxes are also great for the price, but at least the 503 also felt really cheap. And I'd wager the 522 is really cramped tweaking-wise.

Acidlab Miami + Moog Opus 3 + Korg Polysix

I was getting to know my recently acquired Acidlab Miami and in the process, farted out these two tracks. Miami does all drums and percs, everything else is played by hand (ie. poorly and out of sync) on a Moog Opus 3 (basses) and Korg Polysix. I'm not really well versed in making electronic music, ...

Re: DCO obsession - what next?

What is CM? Sgt. C arey M ahoney?? I would say that the MKS50/A-Junos are good choices for the DCO with a VCF and VCA. And yes it operates similar to having one DCO with three different parameters to edit them plus a sub-osc. :geek: Yep. All Junos, including the Alphas, have a single DCO per ...

I've done this a couple of times, ditched a lot of "budget" synths and FX in order to finance a bigger investment. Fun and exciting, as I basically revamped my whole setup in the process :)

Re: New Vintage : Korg SV-1

I rather like the prices. And looks. If the SV-1 was around when I got my Electro 3, I probably would've blown my brains from thinking too hard which to buy :D But now I'm probably too enamoured by the E3's sampling (and extensive Mellotron library) to switch over, no matter how much I'd love a weig...

Re: Synth examples, post them here.

Some time ago, I traded my Midimini for a Moog Voyager. The Voyager is noticeably tamer than the Midimini, but great sounding nevertheless. We also got an Empirical Labs Fatso Jr. to our bands studio very recently. Pairing the Fatso with the Voyager was one of the first things I wanted try. Here's w...

Re: String Synth Battle Royale: Yamaha SK vs Roland RS vs ???

I've owned the following string machines at some point of my life: Moog Opus 3 - Love the paraphonic synth section, the ability to mix different sections, the string section cuts really well through a dense mix. The ability to switch between different triggering modes is a BIG plus. Still have one. ...

Re: Moog Voyager Rack or Macbeth M3X?

Couple of years ago I had a M3X. I sold it to get a Studio Electronics Midimini (with original Model D circuit boards), which I recently ended up trading for a Voyager EB. The Midimini sounded fantastic. Powerful, cut through anything, punchy, snappy, alive, etc. It's the sound we all have heard on ...
