Re: Social Entropy Engine sequencer
Whelp eff it, I just placed an order for a red one. I had no idea this thing would be released this year, otherwise I would have held off on buying an MPC. I've always wanted something like this. The closest thing, the cirklon, seemed overly complex, has a waiting list, and cost a quite a bit more.

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the AKAI S2000 yet, but that's probably because most of you have never touched that piece of garbage with a nightmare UI... Ha, I have to disagree, it's user interface is a bit tedious, but everything is laid out pretty logically in a list like fashion. The s...

Re: Stupid question regarding reverb
Just to add to the good points so far: think of it this way. Imagine a singer in a large concert hall. They are a "mono" source. The sound bounces around the concert hall every which way, surrounding you with reflected sound. That is the "stereo" reverb. So it's really cool to take synthesised soun...

Stupid question regarding reverb
Is there any point in utilizing the stereo outs of a reverb processor if only a mono signal is being fed to the input? Not sure if its important or not, but I'm using an alesis Nanoverb.

And who is that Sasha?lol I'm starting to feel old  . i wouldnt worry about that feeling- they havent made anything worth listening to in a very loooooooooooooooong time I ignored them forever, then during the last year something just clicked and I started to love them. Re: Looking for a Synth..(Industrial/
Since everyone is recommending fairly complex synths with limited interfaces I'm just going to again recommend the dsi evolver desktop. Built in feedback with grunge option, output hack, a very nasty built in distortion, and 3 modulatable delay lines.

Re: Zoom MS-70CDR?
I just got one as part of a trade, and after being underwhelmed by the built in reverbs on my zoom r16 I wasn't expecting much. I'm happy to say, considering the price point, that I was blown away. I don't have any hands on experience with any of the eventide or strymon delays/reverbs it emulates, b...

Re: MicroBrute - How awesome is it?
I definitely liked my micro sound wise, but I kept getting weird midi issues when trying to sync the internal sequencer to external clock, and the note repeat function on my mp2000xl caused the micro to wig out. To elaborate notes would only trigger upon release of the keys rather than the pressing ...

best place to buy backlights?
I need to replace the back light of a casio vz10m and I'm wondering if anyone has a vendor they would recommend? Google turns up backlight4u, which looks fairly reputable, and on ebay there is the seller "backlights". Any experience with either?

Re: Looking for a Synth..(Industrial/
Pretty much everything I heard in those YouTube videos were made from samplers. (Low bit rate) Samplers were a key element in industrial music in the late 80s/early 90s. I'd look for a 12 bit sampler like an Akai S900, S950, Roland S-50 or W-30. I had (and still have) a Roland W-30 in the early 90s...

Re: mpc1000 vs mpc200/2000xl
I would be very interested in a comparison between the two... Is the 2000xl basically just an s2000 with pads? Sound wise maybe. The 2000xl doesn't do chromatic obviously, and the s2000 has a much smaller screen so the menu layout is a bit different. What I should have said is that I've always foun...

Re: mpc1000 vs mpc200/2000xl
Said ef it and picked up a mpc2000xl. I paid a bit too much for it, but its in damn good condition, with a pristine lcd screen. I haven't even had to peak at the manual yet. I guess all those years I spent with its sibling the s2000 paid off.
