Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis

Anyone have any opinions on the Waldorf Microwave XTk as compared to the Fizmo? I know this is not a versus thread, but Im facing a difficult decision between these two lovely boards and I need to act quickly. I know some of the strengths of the XTk are the interpolation between waveforms, multi-sta...

Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis

Thanks Balma for your useful example. I think Im going to go ahead and purchase the Fizmo. Ive always wanted one, and given their rarity, it seems like it wouldn't be difficult to sell it if I don't end up liking it.

Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis

I guess my interests in the FIzmo relate to its unique sound. Ive heard many accounts that it can create sounds that you cant achieve with other wavetable synths. But many people have also said its kind of a one trick pony, good for only evolving pads and experimental sounds. I guess I wouldnt so mu...

Re: Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis

Thanks for your reply. I was strongly considering getting a Fizmo, in part because I was allured by "transwave synthesis". But Ive been doing a lot of reading and it seems like there isn't much of a distinction between transwave and wavetable synthesis. Also, Ive heard many of the wavetable synths (...

Wavetable vs Transwave Synthesis

Could someone explain to me what exactly the differences are (if any) between wavetable and transwave synthesis? Im trying to weigh the strengths of the Waldorf XT vs the Ensoniq Fizmo in particular, but Im confused to how they differ in terms of synthesis.

Re: Progressive Breaks

Its the style that I would most like to emulate. i love how it places heavy emphasis on syncopated beats. im still learning how to construct good breakbeats in ableton. big fan of a lot of these artists and how they interleave intricate melodies into the complex beats structures. i would say that th...

Re: Progressive Breaks

Haha I never would have made that connection even though Ive seen your posts. Thats awesome to know you use VSE! Ive always been a huge Hybrid fan. You guys have a really unique sound. Soundsystem 01, Morning Scifi, and I Choose Noise are among my favorite albums. $50 pistol and man on fire remix ar...

Progressive Breaks

I was wondering if anyone else here at VSE were fans of progressive breaks? I think its a very exciting style that has kind of flown under the radar compared to dubstep and electrohouse. There are a lot of talented producers in this genre, including Hybrid, Shiloh, Fretwell, Aeron Aether, Domased El...

Re: Newb question concerning sampling rates in VSTs

You would think if that kind of functionality was built into VSTs, it would make software synthesizers much more powerful and maybe even more preferred among musicians. Ive often heard from many people that a digital hardware synth is only as good as its internal sound card. If thats the case, then ...

Re: Newb question concerning sampling rates in VSTs

Thanks for the response. I ask because I have an M-Audio firewire 410 external sound card thats capable of 96 and 192 kHz sampling rates. Might email Native Instruments about this. I think it could make a consider difference in sound quality (or at least I hope :)).

Newb question concerning sampling rates in VSTs

I was wondering if you have a sound card capable of higher sampling rates such as 92 kHz or even 192 Khz, can you run most VSTs at these higher sampling rates? Does it lead to VSTs sounding aesthetically better in any way? The VST I was primarily interested in using is FM8.
