Can you use the tenori-on for microtonal music?

Re: Juno 106... good or bad?

Ive had both a Juno 106 and a JX3P. I loved the 106. Its got a nice sound and its very easy to program. I wasn't so into the JX3P because of the poor interface, but it had some great sounds as well. I would choose a 106 over the 60 because of the midi issue.

Re: Mod Matrix vs Manual Tweaking

Thats true. Its probably best to use a good mix. But its interesting to hear how others go about programming.

Mod Matrix vs Manual Tweaking

Recently I have been thinking a lot about how the mod matrix is of great importance to synthesis. When I first got into synthesizers, I was immediately drawn to the cutoff and resonance parameters, among others, which were quick and easy solutions to shape sounds. I spent several years just tweaking...

Re: Doepfer Dark Energy

Used to have one of these. It does exponential FM which is pretty nice. The layout is pretty intuitive as well.

Re: Will FM ever be sought after ???

It does seem like a one trick pony but would be a nice addition to a modular system.

Re: Just you and a synth and a bottle o' rum

I think Id prefer smoking instead of drinking when it comes to tweaking synths. As far as my choice, Id probably go with a polyevolver.

Re: Will FM ever be sought after ???

I stumbled across something called the Zeroscillator, which is an analog FM module. I listened to the sound samples and have never heard anything like it. I could really see people getting into that, although it is always pricey to start a modular.

Re: Virus Moog filters question

But I see your point about more expensive and certainly higher quality pedals. I am limited in my choices b/c of funds :(

Re: Virus Moog filters question

mharris80, funny you should mention that. I just picked up an ART Tube MP from Guitar Center to see if it could warm up the sound, and it totally does the job! The one thing about the virus (and most other digital synths for that matter) is that, although they have more sonic capabilities than analo...

Re: Virus Moog filters question

After having had the chance to mess around with the Virus C for a couple days, Ive gotten a better impression about how it sounds. You guys are right, the moog filter doesn't exactly sound analog. Its got a kind of harsh and aggressive sound to it and not as warm sounding. Im still figuring out the ...

Re: Virus Moog filters question

Ive heard that it can also be good for some dark aggressive bass sounds too. I actually just bought one on ebay, so Ill be able to try out its sounds first hand very soon. Looking forward to it. Theres a surprising lack of audio samples online in terms of how the new filter sounds.

Virus Moog filters question

I was wondering if someone could elaborate on the much hyped "moog filters" that are available on the later versions of the Virus C OS. So, my understanding is that the moog filters are equivalent to the ladder filters in the 6.5 OS. Also, for those of you who have used this version of the Virus, ho...

Re: So I tried a Virus. Finally.

I found a Virus A at a local Guitar Center for $300, so I had to pick it up. And Im very glad I did. Its a very versatile synth that can cover a wide range of sounds. Its great for bass because of the sub oscillator. I love the interface! Access knows a lot about usability. I think it definitely liv...
