Re: What is your "Sound"?

I put a lot of emphasis on mixing. Bringing things in and out, and keeping things moving. Its really important to bring a live element to the mixing process. I use Ableton with an APC40 and do several mix takes of which I choose the one that captures that live energy the best. I always use a sonic m...

Re: Logic Pro Vs Ableton Live

Yeah Joey, I dont think you are missing out on too much. The more I work with Logic, the more I realize that you can do pretty much anything you need with it. Seems like Logic has a bit of a steep learning curve. Maybe thats also due to the fact that Im a PC guy who recently jumped over to Mac. The ...

Re: Hartmann Nueron VS

Having had a Neuron and listened to the demos on youtube, I can say that those demos dont really do the synth justice. It does have a very unique sound, very evolving and strange. I dont think its as big of a milestone as it was marketed to be simply because its not your typical bread and butter syn...

Re: Logic Pro Vs Ableton Live

Ive been a long time Ableton Live user that just starting using Logic. I had heard so much about Logic from many different people that I had to check it out. So far, Im very impressed with the way its laid out and how good it sounds. I think Live and Logic serve two different functions. Live is grea...

Re: Winter NAMM 2010

Is anyone else let down by the Ableton-Serato collab?? It seems like its more geared for Serato users. I thought Live would implement some kind of vinyl emulation or something.

Re: Hartmann Nueron VS

I have the Neuron VS. From what I gather, it sounds almost identical to the hardware version. Ive heard a lot of people say that the synth's sounds weren't very usable. I think it takes some tinkering, but you can get some incredible sounds with the Neuron. The patches Ive created have a lot of char...

Re: Problem using Allen & Heath Zed-14 in Ableton

Well I found that ASIO4all driver, but it was that driver that was giving me the problem. However I called the trouble shooting line and they helped me figure everything out. Very relieved haha. Thanks for the posts guys. Really enjoying using this mixer. Its not quite what I expected (as I can only...

Re: Problem using Allen & Heath Zed-14 in Ableton

Unfortunately I bought it used from someone on Craig's List. He is looking for the driver CD. I would have thought the drivers would be available on the Allen & Heath website. That would make things a lot easier.

Problem using Allen & Heath Zed-14 in Ableton

I cant seem to get the Zed-14 to work with Ableton Live 8 for some reason. I have downloaded the ASIO4ALL driver which should enable me to use the mixer within Live, but I cant seem to get any audio no matter what I try. Has anyone here figured out how to use this mixer with any DAW besides Sonar (w...

Re: DJ mixing tips and tricks

Ive been working with Live 8 extensively the past couple weeks, reading tutorials (Music Tech's special on Live 8 in particular) and tinkering with different things during the process of mixing. The groove engine in Live 8 is really handy. Being able to extract the groove of one audio track and supe...

Re: DJ mixing tips and tricks

DJing with Live is also especially exciting because of being able to use and create devices in Max for Live on the fly. And the new controllers that are coming out are really usable. The APC40 in particular is my favorite, but Im sure there is another sleeping giant in the works. Cant wait to see wh...

Re: DJ mixing tips and tricks

Wow great link. Thanks for sharing. I do think there is a bit of a divide between people who are completely into the production and gear aspect and those who are into DJing. I think DJing has a negative stigma attached to it because there are a lot of talentless, pretentious assholes out there that ...
