Re: DJ mixing tips and tricks

Wow great link. Thanks for sharing. I do think there is a bit of a divide between people who are completely into the production and gear aspect and those who are into DJing. I think DJing has a negative stigma attached to it because there are a lot of talentless, pretentious assholes out there that ...

DJ mixing tips and tricks

There is a wealth of knowledge to be found in this forum, however I haven't seen too many posts on DJ mixing in particular. Im currently using Ableton Live and an APC40 to practice mixing. I was wondering if anyone had any any tips, tricks, or general insight into digital mixing they would like to s...

Re: Max for Live

Electro Funker, I share your excitement. Ive finally figured a lot of things out, but Im not really proficient in programming myself. Ive found a lot of great devices online, and currently have my launchpad set up as a step sequencer and my apc40 controlling clip launching and everything else. There...

Re: Underworld

Interesting point cornutt. I can deffinetly see the eigthies influence too. I always thought that the song Dirty Epic reminded me of Depeche Mode in a way, particularly how Karl Hyde sings. They had been around a long time before they developed their signature sound.

Re: Underworld

Yeah they were quite visionary. They had a huge mixer on stage that they would rock out with, and to great effect. The live shows had a really special and powerful energy. If they ever do come back to tour the states, Ill be making it to see them for sure. They have a really cool blog section on und...

Re: Underworld

Juanita/Kitless on Everything Everything is such an amazing live performance. The song sounds completely different live, has such an energy to it. Not to mention the lyrics are magnificent.

Re: I just grabbed a FIZMO!!!

really want a fizmo. i settled for an ensoniq sd-1, which apparently has an older version of the same transwave synthesis engine that the fizmo uses. However, it seems like the Fizmo is much more powerful since you can control so many of the parameters via knobs. Also, it just looks like such a beau...

Re: Warming up softsynths

Ive used a tube amp quite often with good results. Also, I used to use the electro harmonix clone theory chorus pedal quite often to phatten up digital sounds.

really want to check out one of these. sounds interesting that the voice can be used as the carrier, and the modulator being the synth.

Re: Underworld

I think youre right Wiglaf. I saw a video of one of their recent performances on youtube, and it blew me away. Rick Smith is a genius. So is Karl Hyde..... in his weird offbeat sort of way.

Re: Underworld

I would love to see them live sometime. But its too bad that Darren Emerson left the band. He had a huge influence on their sound becoming more electronic and dance oriented.

Re: Does such a sequencer exist?

The Yamaha Rm1x has this function. Also, Im sure you could build a sequencer in Max for Live that works that way.

Re: Max for Live

Wow. Max for Live has lived up to the hype, at least in my opinion. There are so many neat devices that come with Pluggo. In addition, the user community (similar to the one that Reaktor had) has already started to grow. There are some really cool devices on maxforlive.com that are free for download...

Underworld

Anyone here big fans of the band Underworld? After I discovered their live album Everything, Everything (and the live DVD), Ive been hooked. They got such a smooth and eclectic sound. My favorite song would deffinetly have to be Dark Train from the Trainspotting soundtrack.
