Re: Another Moog Little Phatty/Moog Prodigy Question

Is there any way to use the Mod or pitch wheel on my LP to create an effect similar to the pitch wheel on a Moog Prodigy? Try this: Mod Source: Filter Env. Mod Destination: Filter Mod Amount: Maximum (i.e. fully clockwise) Filter cutoff: To taste (but probably midway or less) Filter EGR Amount: 12:...

I guess you could say I'm a purist in that I don't think guitars and synths should mix on the same instrument. I've never liked the Roland GR-synths, and frankly I think the Avatar deserved to fail (they chose to release that instead of the way cooler and more innovative Chroma). I'm not saying the...

Turn the encoders (i.e. knobs) roughly 20 rotations in both directions or even perhaps more than this. If you haven't used you Q's knobs all that much in the past they may need this often proven workout. It has worked for me.

It can be said that Buchla's oscillator core is triangle while Moog's core is sawtooth! The waveshaping and high frequency compensation for both types of cores can be quite different depending on the oscillator circuit's topology. The resulting harmonic content for say a triangle wave for both types...

There'd still be complaints if it was free. That's what I was thinking Jack and I've been listening to this thing for many months now! A idea of a "7K Moog guitar" didn't seem any more absurd than the idea of a "MOOG GUITAR." As a guitar player who loves to play and tweak synthesizers though the on...

Yeah, don't fret yet. The Q has a pretty easy power supply - it's a computer switching supply like used for digital camcorders, laptops and printers. It's bolted on the inside and the connector is just glued to the PCB where you have some more power circuitry - a rectifier, IIRC some resistors and ...

An arp on a Moog synth just feels weird as well. I agree but it's still pretty damn fun!! At least they'll definitely fix that matrix bug though. That's what really matters to me. Me and Amos pushed this one on Cyril. We didn't like the idea of having to turn off the EG controls to reduce the...

Further browsing reveals that it's likely the Tribute will be updated last - after the Stage II is released and the new OS is ported to the Stage I - if at all. V2 for the Stage 1 is for the most part done! I loaded it into my Stage 1 yesterday using my midiman 2x2 and sysex librarian on my mac. Th...

Perhaps a slightly more geeky perspective on things: Analog synths: An analog synthesizer contains discrete transistors, opamps, diods, ect. which are all rated by tolerance variations due to thermal exposure (i.e. heat), manufacturing limitations and a few other less important agitators. So a VCO m...

Cherry was not my first choice, neither was the fire backlight. I wanted Ash/Electric Blue But I started getting obsessive and indecisive, and when I was offered a reeeeaaalllly good deal on this model new, I realized I could have a Voyager that was run over by a car twice, then crazy glued back to...

Very nice!! Cherry is my wood of choice (but I still love my Anniversary edition and its beautiful black finish)!

Don't forget to pick up a VX-351. More modulation possibilities is always a good thing :D

Pink Floyd (will go to OT but needs GS viewing)

Floyd's work made me a synth Geek but I do love the early Barret stuff!

This youtube is amazing. No synths, but just keep in mind what the catalyst of Syd's work brought to us!!

Most irritating thing about that Youtube posting is the referrel to 'Phill Collins Mama'... BTW saw the Genesis reunion gig in London Sunday night, never thought I'd describe £60 as good value, but they did play for 2 3/4 hours... Yes, Phill is just part of the Genesis machine!! It's a nice youtube...

Genesis Mama, spot the synth!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGa4HY9fklA&NR=1 What an amazing synth song IMO!! It is hard to see what he (Tony Banks) is playing in the video but does it matter? Oberheim, SCI, MOOG, ect... I wish I had a time machine into the late 70's with today's cash  This is one of those songs that does...

I've always been amazed with the Andy and was not surprised that Alesis jumped out on a limb since, after all, they did bring to us the adat! Dave, the one major question I have had and the one thing which has kept me from pulling the trigger on an A6 purchase is what will the status of the A6's ASI...
