Re: MAM ADX-1 Impressions?

I had one for a while, they're not bad but I wouldn't pay a fortune for one. I've got a Tama Techstar drum brain and that's warmer sounding to my ears. The ADX1 really poked out on my NS10M monitors, sort of hearing damage frequencies!

Re: Midi patchbay???

If you'd like to patch things manually then DACS made one which has DIN on the back then jack connections at the front, they crop up on Ebay from time to time. Another manual one is made by Signex, a basic DIN patch panel called the CPM22 , 22 DIN on the rear and 22 DIN on the front. No merge/filter...

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?

I've put my Microwave 1 in a more ergonomic place (right in front of me!) and it's not as bad as I used to think. The red diagonal button is well placed to do the nav/value mode swap with one finger while twiddling the encoder with the others. It's still a fiddly user-interface but the sounds are in...

Re: CZ and DX

Yes I've got a TX81Z and a CZ101, I think you're spot on with your observations. As I've wittered on about before on VSE, I think the DX11 has a great bass end, possibly better than the TX81Z. The CZs are great for warmer sounds and weird resonant and ring-modded patches. People have said that the C...

Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)

My AN1X sounds like an idealised version of analogue, like a polished recording of one. So in a recording I think it would be quite convincing but when you play it, it's just not the same. It's a h**l of a synth for the money though.

Re: matrix 1000 black or white?

Slightly OT - Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine has two black Matrix 1000s in his *massive* guitar rig (saw them live in Dallas last Wednesday night), no doubt responsible for the triggered synth lead lines he plays alongside his droney strums. The synth folks here who haven't heard MBV would be...

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?

Agree with quite a few already mentioned: TX802 - no slider, just inc/dec or tap in the value you want using a 0-9 keypad, yuck TX81Z - nearly as bad but with practise it's bearable. DX synths with all the patch buttons for parameter navigation and a data slider are a breeze in comparison. D110 - so...

Re: Just scored a DX-11

As for programming, I wonder if it's easier on the 11. I sold my DX11 for a TX81Z to free up some space. The DX is a lot easier to program, all those patch buttons take you direct to a param page, whereas on the TX it's back and forth with the menu diving, really slows things down. Data slider on t...

Re: Fizmo parameters

Could be why you're not seeing any ASCII in the raw dump. Sonofagun, you are absolutely right. I just checked, and it does in fact encode the ASCII characters. The patch name is 16 ASCII characters, which encodes into 20 bytes. Onward and upward! Excellent! Maybe that code they sent to the Sounddiv...

My 'Turbo' rack has a sticker on the top at the front. The SCSI port round the back is what you should be looking for, along with a "SCSI INSTALLED" message on boot up.

Only the "Turbo" edition had SCSI (and Flash RAM) as standard.
