Broken Mackie 1604 VLZ3 channel?

I bought a used Mackie 1604 VLZ3 off ebay a few months back, described as fully working etc. Anyway for various reasons I have only got round to setting it up today, but I think one of the channels is broken I follow the Mackie set-up guide in turn for each channel, where you turn down gain, AUX sen...

I think you get 54 memory slots.
Redundant? How so?

Re: Atari ST Trackman and Pulsar in action!

Thanks for putting these up. Really interesting to see these lesser known Atari sequencers in action. Had never before heard of Pulsar, which seems well cool. Like an early version of Numerology.
Look forward to the Cubase one.... you going to use the infamous Mike Hunt version?

I've a fair number of them still, and even old E+MM (Electronic and music maker). The readers ad's make me want to cry...... Jupiter 8 for £625, SH101 for £100, and JX8P and DX7 for £800. All these ads in the same issue. Even a full two page ad with the "Special offer to readers. The amazing Elka Sy...

Which multitrack for simple synth+mixer+sequencer setup?

Ditching the DAW, and looking to run a simple setup based around a few synths, drum machine, effects boxes, a Mackie 1402VLZ and ASQ10 sequencer (one day a Circklon) so looking for advice on which multi-track recorder would best suit my needs in regards to multi-tracking synths etc? From the few I h...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

I've read you can record polyphonic linear parts into the Cirklon.
How does that work? Can it replace a more traditional hardware sequencer for such parts? (ie Akai ASQ10, Roland MC500, Yamaha QX1 etc)

Re: Recent popularity of TR-707?

Not exactly hip, but is that a TR707 throughout this song?

Nice to hear it outside of the typical chicago house music style.

Think Madonna also used the 707 in some of her 80's stuff.

Re: Tangerine Dream Underwater Sunlight Synths

Anyone feel the demise in quality of TD's output after 1987, could be put down the choice of sequencers? Around this time they started to use software based sequencers the first being Steinberg Pro 24, which i'm sure was used for the Berlin 87 concert. After that they moved to Cubase. The period bef...

Any latency with hardware mixers + effects etc?

When using DAW's with effect plug-ins , you'll end up with milliseconds of latency, caused by the time it takes for the CPU to process any audio going through the effects. And you'll also end up with latency if using software monitoring to monitor live audio through your DAW. My question is do hardw...

Wow! :D Thank you very much for posting this! I really appreciate all the work that went into doing this. Re: Why did D+B artists use EMU 4's if midi timing is bad?

Used an ESI4000 for a long time, that definitely had MIDI timing problems but only noticeable when triggering several simultaneous loops, not noticeable when triggering individual samples. That's the problem i read about on a few drum and bass forums. For example if you tried to simultaneously trig...
