all the classic Sylvian stuff, Brilliant Trees through The First Day, has textures and chords centred round the usual suspects (rhodes, hammond, piano, prophet 5, and don't forget he can play guitar too) or found sounds fed through a metric shit-tonne of effects ranging from Eventide to Dimension D ...

okay that CZ Rider mp3 was pretty damn good. it made me feel like i was driving through the jungle in an old truck carrying sweaty dynamite. it occurs to me that i should probably put a link to this folder here: http://suitandtieguy.com/sounds/best_of_the_barn_jams/ these are 3 recordings from some ...

i'm pretty sure he had one of those 360 Systems sample-playback board in there as well, and he had an SEM programmer for the SEM voice.

that guy was pretty f**k amazing. also Daft Punk completely ripped off his pyramid scheme.

Numerology is a "virtual analogue MIDI sequencer" which was kind of designed from the ground up being informed heavily by the music of TD and KS and Redshift. i was the other half of the early dev team and pretty much everything i wanted a software sequencer to do was or will be implemented. for exa...

funny. i just bought a TR-505 today, and currently my only drum machine is a CR-8000.

i need to decide wether i want to go this route or continue to use both. i actually _like_ the CR-8000s interface, but the possibility of programming the rim click is extremely exciting.

the only "moog wannabe" vibe i get from this is the wood and the colour black. the knobs are more 70s stereo equipment than Moog. actually this seems like more of a big MC-202 than a cut-down Moog. if you look at it that way it has quite a full feature set. leipzig. i'm still trying to get that part.

well i still think they were lying about recording new sounds into it. it's not an S1000 ... you kind of had to record things and send them to Streetly/Bradmatic/etc and they'd make a tape frame for you.

I guess I would probably love the early 70s stuff. i'm fairly certain there's one track you've heard quite a bit. i believe we're within a few years age-wise, if you don't smack your forehead and say "WOW I WAS DIGGING KRAFTWERK BACK WHEN I WAS LIKE SIX YEARS OLD!!!?!?!" then it's possible i assume...

also remember Tomita used _extensive_ Mellotron layered with and/or ran through his Moog system on all of his significant albums. also the Smashing Pumpkins lied about using one. i saw some video documentary where Corgan said "yeah we like sampled stuff into it ... it's like an analogue sampler." th...

Consider multi-colored traffic cones chucked from my head at yours. What do you have against German guys in matching red shirts? i think it's very safe to assume Mr Gainsay has no dislike for Kraftwerk, he just hasn't heard "The Robots." for example, i think Kraftwerk is the s**t, enough to get you...

reall nice options for glide, note priority, and unison. this looks really exciting. er ... is OscAllFreq missing from the list of modulation destinations on pg 27? and what is the value range of OscAllFreq? if OscAllFreq exists, does it also affect filter keytracking? can clock divide be a modulati...

(2) Dave Smith is unwilling to listen to customer demand on this subject, no matter how many customers do the demanding. Which one is it? why so negative? maybe it's more like 2) Dave Smith is unwilling to compromise his concept of a Prophet-8 by introducing multitimbral operation. i don't know the...

Hey, STG. I don't get the delay you're speaking of, either. If it were a prevalent issue I think by now more people would have mentioned it. i will assume that my immediate reaction that there's a black hole convertor underneath the Arlington Heights Guitar Center is correct then. i'm looking forwa...

Huh? First I've heard of that....I've never noticed any note delay on mine. it was at the same Guitar Center in Arlington Heights IL i was able to crash an E-Mu Command Station in 15 seconds flat at, so it's possible that place is a black hole of electrons. or it could have been set up really stupi...

jesus harold christ my friend picked the wrong time to sell his P10. is the same kind of delay experienced from the keyboard of the MEK present in this new P'08? i love the sound and concept of the Evolver line but i could sense the note delay when i played one and it bothered me. of course it could...
