Re: What synth have you bought more than one of?

I had 2 ARP Axxes about 4 years ago. It was my attempt at a poor man's Odyssey. But one was a black n gold and the other was black n orange. I CV/Gated them together with an ARP Little Brother and a Moog Rogue for a monster 5 osc monosynth. Impractical but fun! Not sure if it counts, but I also had ...

Re: March competition '15: New age-dolphin-crystal-healing s

Yeah, mine is running long, too. I'm probably not going to make the deadline. Every time I think I'm getting to the end, it tells me "hey, I'm not done yet. I still have more to say." And it keeps changing direction, so I'm not sure it even fits into this category any more. Count me out, but I'll po...

Oddly enough, I think I'll throw my hat in the ring. I didn't think I'd be able to, so I kept my mouth shut. Ninja, is the Soundcloud up yet?

Darn. Does that mean I'm retroactively disqualified from the DCO competition? ;)

I gotta admit I'm scratching my head over this. I have a Poly 800 and I'm trying to think of how it can be used in an additive manner.

Re: Playing synths: do you play what you like to hear ?

I tend to let what I like influence what I compose, but the result never sounds anything like what originally influenced me. If I pointed out to someone, "yeah that song was influenced by [insert song/artist here]" they likely be scratching their head. But this is intentional. Take a starting point ...

Re: Which Odyssey color?

I went with the mk3. I've always liked the look of that one, and it would match nicely with my V-Synth. My only hands-on experience is with the Axxe. I had both versions, which I assume were equivalent to the mk2 and 3 Oddys. I preferred the mk3 filter. So black n orange on that, too. Yeah, I know.....

Re: Behringer discussing making ARP Odyssey now

I don't think they'll be able to reproduce it part for part, but they couldn't do that with the MS-20, either. But if a part was no longer available, they substituted... not simply with a modern equivalent. They tested several components and went with the one that sounded the closest, even if it did...

Something a bit different

I have a few Garritan collections, and started messing with JABB3. This is one of the first times I sequenced the music rather than actually playing. I still need to work out the instrument articulations, but the composition is done.

Re: Stacking oscillators on the Minibrute

I don't have any of the synths you mentioned, but I'll share my experience with CV. I assume the synths mentioned each have CV/gate in AND out. Hopefully this will help. I had a Moog Rogue, ARP Little Brother and 2 ARP Axxes. They were all connected to make a 5 oscillator beast. I used one Axxe as t...
