Re: #Selfie Synth

Wow. This generated 10 pages of discussion? On the other hand, I'm glad that I'm viewing this on a computer that I can't view the actual video. I'm not feeling like a masochist today. But I think I get the general point. The only reason I'm adding my $0.02 is because I don't think in the 90s people ...

Re: VSE Disco Competition - ends June 1st/14

Y'know, it just occurred to me how little thought was put into the current contest. Looks like you just took the last one and added a couple of letters.

DCO ---> DisCO :lol:

Lame, I know. Sorry. :P

waveform:blue and _dan: I'd say give us what you've got. It'll be fun. I'm not sure how well my contribution will fit, but I submitted. My compositions always have a tendency to stray from what I originally intended. Outside of mainstream disco classics, I'm not too familiar with disco, so my song m...

I read somewhere that they initially installed Novachords, but the pilots started to complain about takeoff becoming too difficult. ;)

Re: Roland V-Synths

Do they? I thought I read somewhere that the GT didn't have the D50. Well, I can't remember where I read it, which probably translates to "somewhere on the internet." And I've only used the original. My apologies if I gave erroneous info.

Re: Roland V-Synths

I think the original has better interface of all 3. Xt has vc-1(virtual d-50) built in. The vc-1 card can be added to original. Good point. The VC-1 (virtual D-50) and VC-2 (vocal designer) can be added to the original if you can find (and afford) them. The XT has them both built in. The GT has the...

Rumour has it that there will also be a pot version for less $$ but it will only be available in Colorado and Washinton state.

Re: Roland V-Synths

As far as the vocoder function goes, all 3 versions can do it, IIRC. The XT and GT have it built in. The original requires a VC-2 card, which has become rather hard to find and expensive if you do find it.

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

I guess I didn't articulate that quite so well. Inflation and all that. People today would be hopping mad if they were told they had to pay $16k or even $9k for an analog poly. Translate it the other way around. I'm only being rough in my estimation, but synthesists back then would've been ecstatic ...

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?

Have you considered a FutureRetro Mondovox and your choice of up to 16 brutes? I know at least 8 microbrutes and a mondovox is $2700 or so but you could maybe start with 3 or 4 and over time, build up to the 8 or so voices that you need. Think of all of the patching madness! I'd actually LOVE to do...

Re: Question about Poly 800 mods

Really, the awkward controls are the only thing that bothers me about it. Thus, this thread. Soundwise, I actually like it. Yes, I know it's not as [insert adjective here] as other synths, but not every part of every song needs that. I think the big reason I didn't simply sell it is that every once ...

Re: Question about Poly 800 mods

Understood. By knob per function, I didn't necessarily mean strictly knobs. There's plenty of parameters that are basically on or off. Or 3 positions. I was just wondering if there was a way to override having to punch in a parameter number and then click up/down to adjust. So if there could be a kn...

Re: Question about Poly 800 mods

Finally looked at the vids. That flight controller looks fun. But yeah, the basic gist is that I ought to get the hawk upgrade. I'm not terribly fond of the Poly, though I do use it. Looks like upgrading will change that. Thanks for the info.
