Re: DSI Prophet 08

Congrats, I've owned mine for a few years now and love it for what it is and I can do with it. I usually run it through some sort of f/x (some chorus, reverb etc.)

Re: If a Prophet 08 comes in... what goes out?

Is there anyway you can spend some time with a P08 first? Remember there are no built in fx, I have owned a P08 for a few years now and still like it but I do find that I use outboard fx with it. I think of the P08 as more of a cross btn the old P5 and OBXa and the 2 pole filter not that great but m...

Re: Anyone here upgraded DSI EVOLVER KEYBD to the POT versio

You are right about Deoxit being a temporary solution as it just didn't work for me. DSI sent me new bds to replace the defective ones for free. It took about 10 minutes to install them and all has been good for about 1 year now. If these go I will likely upgrade to the pots.

Re: Moog Voyager XL

My prediction: Some people will want this synth, some will not. Some will buy it and be convinced it's the coolest synth ever, never play it and simply look at it and talk about it online. Some will buy it and play 3 notes and convince themselves that they should sell it a week later and buy someth...

Re: Prophet '08 Output...Annoying Tone

I don't have this sound on mine (ser. 616), I would contact DSI about this. You could also post your issue over at the Prophet 08 forum (http://prophet5.org/viewforum.php?f=15& ... 73211bce0d) and Chris (Pym is his forum nik) from DSI will likely chime in fairly quickly.

Re: What synth (s) you own but haven't played for over 1 yea

The JP8080, K2500r, Emu Classic Keys and even my jd990's have not really been used at all this past year. Now the JD800, Radias & P08 are always on with the Fantom X6 starting to see more use.

Re: "Potentiometers" on new DSI synths - *Rant Warning!*

Chris Hector from DSI posts quite a bit on these forums I would post your questions at either one, he will respond quickly. He is doing much of the programming regarding the encoders/pots of the P08/Mopho/Tetra.

Re: Spandau Ballet: Guess the synth!

Wow, even after reading this I still don't hear the CS10 flavour, but then again it has been so many years since I played one. To me it still has more of a Roland sound to it but as I said in my reply I have been wrong many a time before.

Sounds like the Roland Promars but as we all know I have been wrong before.

Re: Playing with my JD990

I have the Vintage Synth card in one and Sounds of the 60's & 70's in the other, and I just like the 800's sound and ease of programming. My son gave me his Fantom X6, I haven't played with it much but it seems like a nice workstation. I just listened to your music - I quite like it, I saw your gear...

Re: Playing with my JD990

I don't think that you would find many who disagree with your sentiment - some of us own more than 1. I had thought of selling both JD990's and just getting the Ultimate Keys card for my Fantom X6 but I like the JD's too much.

Re: Prophet 08 Conversion

I had the same issues as you are having - maybe worse with the changing and jumping encoders. After 2 shots of deoxit in 5 months I posted my issues on another bd. where Chris @ DSI read it. Long story short, I emailed Tracy @ DSI told her that the first 2 shots of deoxit did not fix the issues and ...

I am just starting to look into the same thing as the OP - adding an MOTM 480 and a new SEM (midi/cv).

Re: DSI Prophet 8

I have been thinking of adding an external 2 pole filter as I find the one on this bd a bit anemic for my use anyway. Any suggestions the one that I have looked at that may work is http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Filters/filters.html
any other suggestions are welcome.
