Re: Yamaha DX5 Demo

Thanks for the nice feedback :) If i hadn't had a DX7 before the DX5 id still be scratching my head. One of the best ways to program it is to duplicate patches on each synth channel then program differences in one channel. Or you can program one 6 OP patch at a time and layer them together after. It...

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?

My first synth was a Roland Promars. Sold it and wish i still had it I would love a Promars, they appear to be getting harder and harder to get hold of now. I think it would go really well alongside the Jupiter 4. I owned a Jupiter-4 a couple of years ago and wished i still had my Promars to sit al...

Yamaha DX5 Demo

Finally got around to making a video of my Yamaha DX5. Not many examples of this rare FM synth, enjoy!

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?

My first synth was a Roland Promars. Sold it and wish i still had it, only realised how special it was once id let it go. Still have my second synth, a Roland W-30. Rediscovered it recently and its getting plenty of use

Re: Stylophone S2 - new analog version

Looks interesting but i think they're taking the Stylophone too far like they did with the 350S. I picked up an original late 60s black model earlier in the year, much prefer it to the S1 and it finds its way onto some of my recordings.

Re: Yamaha CS-01

Its a Synth i'd love to find in a second hand store dirt cheap. Despite its shortcomings its a nice writing tool, with a beefy PWM sound. Id definitely take one with me on trips to cater for my synth needs.

Re: Knobs or Sliders?

Like others have mentioned, i prefer sliders for the Envelopes and knobs for everything else. I think sliders give a better visual interpretation of an Envelope shape than knobs.

Re: "New" DX11!

I love my DX11 to bits, its one of my favourites. Had it for 2 years now and still only scratched the surface of what it can do. I also have a DX7S and the DX11 compliments it nicely. It has a different (FM) character and its own sound. I use the 11 for Bass and Leads; layering patches in Performanc...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?

For me it's the A6 and DX7, my two favourite Synths. The A6 is my only Analogue Synth (shocking considering my username!) and provides my band with huge unique Synth sounds. I always take it out live, it's complexity allows it to create any Synth sound we desire. It's a huge part of our sound, every...

Re: Playing analogs live: tuning?

I used to have to run on stage between sets and tune up my Jupiter-4. It always went out of tune due to heat from stage lighting. Good old days...i used to get weird looks from the audience whilst using a screwdriver on the rear panel tuning pots. :D

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?

Still my Casio CZ-5000! The Andromeda has taken over in the Analogue department and killed my lust for vintage Analogues completely. I guess i don't deserve this name anymore. :D To be fair it's not just that though, im in 2 bands now and have settled on reliable equipment for gigs (which i ...

The Keyboards used on 'Rumours' are my RD700SX doing the Strings and our drummers EDP Wasp on Bass. Love that thing...its a little gem.

My band's first single

Greetings from Sheffield! My band are releasing Rumours as their first single in about 6 weeks time when editing is finished on it's Victorian themed music video. We jusi finished the single mix (not radio edit) yesterday and i would love to hear some feedback on the much improved mix. http://www.my...
