Re: Let's talk about strings, baby

From my experience: Andromeda - Huge thick Analogue Strings due to the VCO's and pleanty of life and movement, in the studio i tend to turn off background tuning. The 16 note polyphony is great and means you can stack VCO's in Unison X and still have sufficiant polyphony. Endless possibillities and ...

Re: Why buy hardware synths?

Because im gigging tonight and hate using software live. Im taking out my Andromeda and DX7S and for me you can't beat the sound of a hardware Analogue and Digital Synth live. A bit irrelevant but it's also nice when people reccognise my DX7 and i get talking about it. :D

The Andromeda gets my vote as the best Analogue Poly without a dobt. Not just because it sound increadible, it's nice to have something that isnt trying to emulate or be something else...something that does it's completely own thing.

Re: PROMARS kicks a*s. This is why:

Yes, it seem you are more digital crazy now AC. :D I think you make excellent use of your digital synths though. I especially dig your Black Celebration cover on Youtube. Been meaning to ask you about the W-30 too, since I have always wanted one.. Is it reliable? I mean have you experienced any neg...

Re: PROMARS kicks a*s. This is why:

I went through a phase where i posted a post every week on here saying how much i loved my Promars. Yeah the Promars is a dam nice monosynth...i sold it and bought a Jupiter-4 but don't have the Jupe now either. I miss them both, they were gorgeous characterful beasts. What happened to the Jupe? I ...

Re: Worst Roland, Korg and Yamaha Synths?

Yamaha: CS-80 - Big, heavy, and sounds thin and plastic. Roland: Jupiter 4 - Stupid layout, dirty sound and the arpeggiator is LAME. Korg: Monopoly - A synth named after a board game? Please. I get your argument about the Jupiter-4...but in terms of sound and character it's one of Rolands ve...

Re: Worst Roland, Korg and Yamaha Synths?

Prehaps i should have named this 'Your least favorite Roland, Korg and Yamaha Synth' :) For me: SH-201 - I use this every week in college and really don't like its sound. To my ears it lacks punch on the bottom end and sounds rather bland and ordinary most of the time. I just think it has a really u...

Re: Yamaha - enemies of synthsis!

Im very fond of Yamaha too. I have owned a CS-10, CS-40M and am now a DX addict, all are fantastic sounding Synths. I will always have a soft spot for the CS range, ever since i had a go on a CS-80 i fell in love with thier distinctive sound. I don't care what anyone says about the DX7, in my opinio...

Re: Jupiter-4 vs Roland Sh-2 & Jx3p vs Juno2

The Jupiter-4 is a unique gem. This is true about lots of other Synths but the Jupiter-4 is one of THE most unique of all. I guarentee you will miss it if you let it go, i love my Andromeda but i still miss my old Jupe like mad. It may have no external control but it's a box of magic that Synth is. :D

Re: What Was the Most Organic Sounding Synth Ever Released?

Not the most organic Synth ever released, but the Jupiter-4 is one of the most organic sounding single osc poly's ever released. Largely due to the really warm and raw filter, and even more to do with the 4 VCO's never being perfectly in tune.
