Best deal on Eurorack casing/psu + midi to cv

I'm wondering if there's anything cheaper than Doepfer in terms of the (amount of modules)/(price) equation. Also I'm assuming the Cheapy Doepfer Midi to CV is probably the best deal I can expect on one of those... But is there any way to get one capable of oddy style duophonic mode for not too much...

Re: Fxpansion Geist - did anyone try it yet?

It looks pretty awesome. A little peeved that its a "new product" instead of Guru 2, but hey, they cut out a few random things that kind of prevents that. As someone who had Guru and found it slightly out of date in a few ways (which led to me trading it for zebra 2 and some other things via KVR) Ge...

Re: Bad News for Software Users

Most software requires activation, which is a service from the company... Really, no matter what the courts rule, the software manufacturers that don't want to allow license transfers will find a way to A) Deny support to 2nd hand users and B) Make that support somehow necessary to use the software ...

Re: creamware/sonic core_dirty little secret?

I must say, you can get sounds like the clip you posted from a lot of softsynths... Something that can do dark and dirty like that... I'd recommend either U-He's ACE (though that one EATS CPU FOR BREAKFAST, if you can live with that it's amazing), or Ohm Force's Minimonsta if you want the moog style...

Re: u-he ACE

ACE has become my favorite synth. You can patch up some seriously weird stuff, and the "tweak" page is where a lot of that magic happens (stacked voice detune, a 128 step mod mapper, the ability to load alternate tunings, and circuit bending controls appear on that page)

Re: Software Drum Synthesizers vs machinedrum

The new audio damage drum machine is probably the closest with it's sequencer options doing basically parameter locks and using synthesis for its sounds, but its nowhere near as complex and not aiming for the same type of sound.

Then again, it's also less than $100.

Re: New U-He Modular

Zebra 2.5 has a new xmf filter mode which mimics the one from bazille (with even more options...)

Obviously not able to do the messed up audio source to CV in stuff, but Zebra 2.5 definitely does "raw analog" a lot better than 2.3 could (which it already did reasonably well!)

he's planning on doing SOMETHING to make the cables a little easier to decipher... Something with highlighted cable ends or random colored patch cables or something.

Re: Any Alchemy users around?

if that's the main thing you're looking for, I wouldn't take reaktor either.

I'd take synthsquad. You'd still need something for samples though.

Re: Are virtual analogs just soft synths with their own...

I can't believe people would think something like Zebra 2 goes "less deep into the research side of DSP" than some rehashed algos from 90s era rolands.

Re: Are virtual analogs just soft synths with their own...

many quality VA's use virtual circuit modeling and have multiple chips dedicated to specific features and actually pass the audio through several stages before you hear what you get. Most VSTs do nothing of the kind but use rather common (and oft. basic) routines to create filters, oscs, etc. it is...
