Korg Z1 button problem

hey, I've been having some problems with the "value/program +/-" buttons on my Z1 (just to the top right of the display screen). The problem being that you have to push super hard to get them to trigger. I have zero knowledge of buttons/mechanisms and was wondering if anybody here had any insights b...

Re: Virus kc kb as controller?

I'm 99% sure... but now you're making me doubt myself! yeah, i recall the x-station has two modes - synth and controller - when you switch over to controller to play another synth on another midi channel (as I used to use it as my master keyboard) it cuts out the internal synth engine - when, say if...

Re: Based on my needs -Yamaha su700?

I owned one for a while and found it a little tedious and slow to get anything done - it sounded good and was fun, but it is quite old for a sampler. You may want to look at one of the sampling electribes for your needs - I think they are geared towards exactly the sort of thing that you are looking...

Re: Virus kc kb as controller?

I don't own one, I've only played a few in store, but the virus keybeds are probably the best I've ever touched (not including the indigos, which I have, and which are not so good). I've never heard of the full ti/kc/kb's being dodgy. The x-station actually has my second favourite action - but, the ...

Re: Cs6x or EX7?

Definitely check out the ex5 before the ex7 if you decide to go this route (some info on this great site: http://www.ex5tech.com/faq.html)... it offers a whole lot more for not that much more money. If you're patient, you should be able to snag one in your budget. Also, check out the Alesis Fusion i...

Re: Question For Canucks

whenever the question of cross-border shipping comes up, I've sworn to shout this from the mountain top: STAY CLEAR OF UPS!
They have royally f'd up every time I've had the displeasure of working with them.
I've never had a problem with fed-ex, canada post or the USPS.

Re: MS2k or AN1x?

It all comes down to preference of sound of course, but, for me... AN1x all the way! MS2000 = poppy, bright and fizzy AN1x = dark, sophisticated and beefy (and a lot of other things - it is very versatile - while the ms2000 will always sound like an ms2000) Warning!: people will tell you the interfa...

Re: What is the value of a Korg PolySix - like New Condition

hi Cipher, I'm going to guess you are the guy who posted on Kijiji in Toronto?! I contacted you earlier hoping that you were one of those guys that didn't know what you had and would let it go for $50... it happens! I think the $700 you are asking is more than fair (even a little low) and you should...

Re: Amazing Klaus Schulze performance

I don't want to offend anyones tastes, but... if this were not "klaus schulze" and you didn't have a video to show all the gear would you be that impressed by this?
It sounds like a bad preset demo track from a groovebox to me.

I don't really see what these "modern mellotrons" have over a good sampler besides looking cool.
Gear for people with more dollars than sense I suppose.

Re: Drum Machine

Not to be a j**k, but... The D2 is probably the worst idea for somebody looking for a drum machine (especially a beginner)! Terrible, cryptic interface, not that many sounds and barely any editability on the drums makes this a bad recommendation... steer clear! And, I owned and enjoyed one for years...

Re: Drum Machine

From what I can tell you are looking for, I'd recommend: Boss DR series- dr670 and dr3 are still in production and can be found used cheap. Also look out/do research for others in this line (550,660,770 etc...) - they are made for easy use/beginners and can be affordable and feature rich. The dr202 ...

Re: Ever have that Homer Simpson "doh" minute

I scored a poly61m off of craigslist for $40. The guy was super nice and, because I was the first to reply, still sold me the board even after people had offered him much more. He was close'ish to my house so I walked it home... only to drop it while fumbling with the front door key. The keys flew o...

Re: What was the Deepest Synth you ever bought?

Actually, I believe it's the VA synth from the Alesis Fusion - which sounds and is quite different than the ion/micron/miniak (but is still quite deep!).

Re: Blofeld Keyboard vs Nord Lead 2x

it all comes down to the sound really... especially if you are comparing something to a waldorf which has a very distinct sound ( which has its lovers and haters - I would fall in the latter category).
As always. try and find a local board to play with!
