4 part multitimbral according to the spec page.
They also say that dsp intensive patches can get you down to 10 voices from the 'up to 50 voices'.

I really like what I see so far. Just haven't seen the price yet.
Blofeld/Snow would make a mighty fine compact rig.

The Microkorg has two audio ins and a keyboard (mini though it may be).

So, does anyone actually have a Blofeld yet? I'll probably be getting one eventually, but I'm on the sidelines for a while.

What else out there can you compare it to?
Well, JS - we were just trying to compare stuff in a similar price range. I suppose there's quite a few others at 600 or less, but I'm blanking out right now.

...Stab did say 'for the price' and in the UK, the Blofeld is just under £300. The others are: Radias Rack - £650 Ion/Micron - £390/£240 Evolver - £350+ You guys are getting a great price on it over there. The Blofeld is $699 in the US. Ion =$599 Evolver = $499 Micron = $399 and several people over...

The Micron only has 2 outs, but its got an audio in and a keyboard.
The Ion has 4 outs, as well as an audio in.

I'm looking forward to the Blofeld - just sayin'. 8)

Stab Frenzy wrote:Sure it would be nice if the Blofeld had audio ins or more outputs but I don't think anyone can complain for the price.

What else out there can you compare it to?

Radias rack, Ion/Micron, and Evolver. for starters.

Different methods of synthesis - yes, but we're talking hardware features, right?

If you haven't yet, check in with the Yahoo group for the Ion.
It's still pretty active for a synth that's got a few years on it.

Lots of stuff to experiment with on the Ion.

... the site's been updated with new information like the .pdf manual .... I'm probably looking right at it and don't see it, but I don't see the manual on any of the 4 Blofeld pages? http://www.waldorfmusic.de/en/products/blofeld/blofeld_overview Never mind - I found it in the 'Archive' area. :oop...

I took another look and thought I did see 'osc. 2', but it went by so fast I wasn't sure.

I was going to say that's the worst filter stepping I've ever heard.

Most of my early gear that didn't cost a lot was pretty crappy. CZ101 RX-21 drum machine Boss mixer High noise levels on the mixer, over-compressed drum sounds, and pretty cheesey synth sounds from the CZ. The TX81Z was the epitome of cheesiness, but I did manage to get a few really good sounds out ...
