For me, it's one of the most stable vsti's I've used. Never had a crash with it.

On my TX81Z, if I used the algorithm where all 4 operators were carriers, I could get 32 partials by setting their frequencies. (4 carriers x 8 voices, in multimode on the same midi channel). The DX7 was 6 operators x 16 voices, wasn't it? If so, you'd be able to get 96 partials from it. Of course, ...

The Matrix-6 doesn't use wheels. It had levers (some call them paddles).

Probably hard to find. Maybe you could hookup wheels - I don't know.

I've used mao's technique with my A6 and SX3. It looks complicated in writing, but is really pretty simple to do. Of course, you have to be using SX. It's about as easy as setting up any controller that doesn't have pre-made presets. I'd say if you just have one synth (the A6), and if you use SX, an...

Ow - that hurts just hearing about it. Aftertouch and the ribbon are a match made in heaven.

There appears to be no FM on the P08. One of several dealbreakers. The Andy has so many FM options, it's terrifying. There's hardly any comparison at all of the mod options between the two. The A6 is far more flexible than the P'08. I don't think most people will be buying the '08 for the mod optio...

They're almost too different to even try and compare.

The P'08 looks like a real nice board, and while I'd like to have one in the future, there's no way I'd ever consider giving up my A6 to get one.

The Prophet '08 is the one that'll be the instant classic.

I had a K5M. It was 16 voice and had a real nice way of setting up multi's. The K5000's I had were 4 part multitimbral and the K5 was 16 part multitimbral (if you used mono parts). I guess the extra processing power of the K5000's went into the formant filter. The K5 I had, had a bad pair of outputs...

I had one a long time ago. It was OK for the time, but is sadly lacking if compared to anything current.
The synth section was also terribly noisy/hissy, but I still had fun with it.

They're both worth getting. If you need keys, I'd get the Micron first.

Micron controlling a Micro-Q would be a great little setup. 8)

ooooh - lookee what I just found. http://www.synclavier.com/SynclavierX.html I thought I'd see if they were still around and it looks like they made the synclavier a softsynth. Too bad it's mac only. :( edit: oops - I guess it's not a softsynth: "SynclavierX is not necessarily useful without a PCI-1...

Looks like those Synclavier figures have been updated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synclavier $200,000 to $300,000 for the basic system, and the most expensive fully decked out system went for $500,000. Fairlights were a good deal compared to those. Currently, most synths are too expensive fo...

You caan get into a Virus A and a micro-q for under 1,000. (might even be able to do a V-B and M-Q for that).
