You really have to do some digging to find out that kind of stuff. Most of the boards that have PP or RV, it's not included in the websites, advertising, or brochures. Probably the marketing people don't know what it is, or don't think most people think it's important.

Re: New Roland Controller

.....the new Roland/Edirol PCR 300, 500, and 800, all have channel and polyphonic aftertouch modes...... Wasn't sure if I could believe that, so I took a quick look at the midi implementation chart here: http://www.roland.com/products/en/_support/om.cfm?iCncd=504&ln=EN&SearchBy=RcId&dst=P&iRcId=000...

.... If these come down to MicroKorg money (<$400) I'll jump in a heartbeat. I'd like to try out some of the new features of the Radias and the lower price and smaller form factor would be welcome. I don't care how cheap the box is, if it has full size keys it's better than the MicroKorg. That's ab...

I had both the AN and DX 200, and neither one had that bug. But I've heard a lot of people complain about it, so there must be something to it.

I never had an xpander, but I've wanted one for a long time.

G2's are still being made, but the G2X has been discontinued, and I don't think a whole lot of them were made, so they could become a bit rare in the future.

Is it settled then?

If your DX200 sounds fine to you, the AN200 probably will too. They both sound fine to me.

Can't remember about the fx though - if they're not identical, they're at least similar.

double post oops! We must have hit the 'submit' button at the same time. My post took forever to show up. FM7/8 is a step up in programmability from yamaha's FM, but I'm really happy with the FM on the Alesis Fusion. You can set it up with pretty much no restrictions, and almost everyt...

The frequencies that are available depend on the ratio of modulator to carrier. The frequencies that are actually heard depend on the envelope which controls the modulators amplitude. Until you reach the point where all envelopes are at the sustain phase, there's really no need for a filter. My main...

AudiosEnvy: I recognize that name from the 'best VA' thread. I can understand talking about a synth's specific good points, but don't understand what someone gets out of constantly bad-mouthing a specific synth without giving concrete examples. You like something, fine, talk it up. But to just say y...

I'd do it in a heartbeat without even thinking twice. Check out the manual here: http://www.alesis.com/index.php?id=56,30,0,0,1,0 and the tutorials here: http://www.alesis.com/index.php?id=56,87,0,0,1,0 I had an AN and DX 200 and thought they were pretty good, but didn't like having to use the compu...

I've seen whole laundry lists of OS quirks with the A6, but I must not use mine too intensely because I haven't run into them. I've got both an Ion and an A6. The Ion sounds great and is capable of a much wider variety of sounds, but when you put it side by side with the A6, the Ion sounds 'flat' - ...

OK - you know how these definitions go. When I think of a synth being able to cut through a mix, one of the first things that comes to mind is oscillator sync. The Ion's sync is nice and sharp, as is the NL2's. Band and high pass filters can help sharpen stuff up too, Digital sounding - everyone say...

I kept my NL2 for a bit after I got an Ion. Everyone said the NL2 was more cutting, so I set em up side by side and compared them. I could get close enough to all of the sounds on the NL2 with the Ion to satisfy me, but there were an almost unlimited number of sounds I could get on the Ion that the ...
