Re: New Andromedas are here

Even though I've got an A6 and it's one of my favorite synths, threads like this always make me want to get another one,

Re: Alesis Andromeda, only buy new?

Nothing wrong with buying used. But there are several reasons I'd recommend going new for an A6. You get a warranty if something is wrong. That means a lot on an expensive synth. It's a complicated synth, and there are a lot of things to check on it if buying used. It doesn't really take all that lo...

Definitely worth a bit more than $150 if it's in good shape. I'd get it.

Re: Alesis Micron Editor

Should have probably mentioned that i'm on a PC. I downloaded Micronizer lastnight. I like it, not all the elements work with the Micron, but most do. Wade was asking over at the Yahoo that if people find bugs or non-working functions that they post about them there, so he can try to correct them w...

Re: Alesis Micron Editor

A new version of Micronizer was posted at the Yahoo group last night.
There's also one called Micronalf that's making progress.

I wouldn't do it.

If what you really want is a jupiter 8, I'd look for that instead.

Re: Micron editor

Are you signed up at the Yahoo Ion/Micron group? There's also another one called Micronit in the 'files' section that's worth a try.

Re: I have fallen in love again

...My gripes? A not insignificant amount of high-end aliasing, a rather muddy and flabby low end, no resonant filters, no portamento, no FM or cross mod, a crappy-sounding and glitchy hard sync implementation, and that annoying memory structure where you might end up ruining several good performanc...

Re:

Thank you guys. I tend to be drawn more towards synthesizers with knobs, more so then those with just buttons to push. This would explain why I am drawn to say an ION , but steared towards a Motif. A Motif is not really for me, since I'm not really a composer or a player, and since I don't write mu...

Re: becoming a Subtractive Synthesis Wizard

All good advice above. Read, experiment, look at how the stock patches are constructed, experiment with each section of the synth separately (osc.'s, lfo's, filters, etc.) Try not to get frustrated if you're making slow progress - it takes time. A couple things might makeit a bit easier - someone su...

Re: I just bought a NL2x. I'm sooooo disappointed...

I got rid of a NL2 and got an Alesis Ion instead. I've found the Ion to be twice the synth for half the price. (Both were purchased new when they came out).

To be fair, I really didn't have too much problem with the sound of the NL2, but I couldn't live with its limited programmng options.

Re: Alesis ION Question

The Alesis Ion is a VA (virtual analog) synthesizer. It has 3 banks of preset sounds and 1 bank of user sounds. You can take a look at them here: http://www.alesis.com/ion# Click on 'docs and downloads', then scroll down to the bank listings. Those files are sys-ex that can be sent to the Ion with a...
