Re: kaoss pads

I've had KPs 1 thru 3 and usually use them for the sampling effects and a couple of the reverbs and filters.

Re: favorite reverb?

got one about a month and a half ago, it's o.k., not bad, not great, but then I have a t.c. electronic fireworx and Sony DPS V77 & 55 I use for reverb. for a pedal it does have the advantage of stereo ins & outs.

Re: Favorite "dirty" synth?

out of what I own I'd have to go with the Nord Modular G1 and Waldorf Blofeld (and just scored a Microwave XT yesterday) as the most capable when it comes to diggin' in the dirt. I especially enjoy the screechy, droney, demonic Penderecki-styled string sounds I've managed to coax out of the Blofeld ...

Blofeld power supply

just interested to know if anyone else with a Waldorf Blofeld has had the power supply c**p out on them? mine did last night, plugged it in and turned it on only to experience the display constantly flashing on and off. for a while I thought it might be f**k, but on a whim grabbed a comparable suppl...

yeah, but if you've kept track the used prices have been coming down. MoPho looks pretty nice, though I'd prefer an Evolver myself, and I've already gone through two of those.

Re: What has happend to Yamaha and synthesizers?

There has always been some kind of gap between the dudes who design the innovative powerful synth architecture and the the designers who decide on the cost implementations on the UI with Yamaha. DX7, VL1, AN1X, FS1R for example. no kidding, take the DX200 for example, which I really love for the FM...

Re: If you were buying today...

as of the last couple of months about the only thing I've really been considering is re-acquiring a Microwave XT. if I give it a bit of thought afterwards would be a Machinedrum/Monomachine and DSI MEK.[googlevideo][/googlevideo]

Re: Vintage synth prices to drop dramatically in downturn ?

I'm expecting a small dip to the vintage synth prices b'cause of the economy. The reasoning goes like this: some musicians but also collectors may have financed their recent purchases with debt, and you know, when the time to offload comes, there might be some more extra supply in the market. Also,...

Re: Inside a Korg EMX

the emx looks really damn good without that blue plate. far less people would call it a toy if it went with that finish. people call it a toy because it's manufactured by Korg, blue faceplate notwithstanding.... :P anyway, I don't really mind the appearnace of the EMX, or the ESX for that matter, n...

Re: UPS- eyes on the inside

although I haven't shipped near the number of packages as James I will still vouche for UPS. I've shipped a few dozen synths and other pieces of electronic gear with them over the last decade or so, as well as having received a number of items, and, so far, never once have I had anything damaged. I'...

Re: Nord Lead 3 opinions ?

different strokes for different folks... personally I love my NL3, but then again I'm much less a player and more a sound designer, doing weird soundscape stuff, noise and droney, atmospheric dark ambient. the Lead 3 gives me the ability to craft all manner of crazy sounds with ease, having a...

there was a thread about cases for the R3 in the Korg forums recently, here:

seems the Nord Modular G2 gig bag works well.

Re: Japanese Magazine ships with Analog Synth

I was looking into possibly getting one last week and from what I can tell there is no soldering involved. I decided against purchasing one, though it does appear to be a fun little toy from the various youtube videos I watched.
