Re: Jupiter 6 Europa arpeggiator sync to LinnDrum

Interesting. My JP-6 has Europa installed (almost 10 years now) and I've never put it in Roland Code mode including the time I made the video. Since you brought up revisions, I don't know if there's been any updates to Europa in the 10 years I've owned it, so it's still whatever version was out in ...

Re: Jupiter 6 Europa arpeggiator sync to LinnDrum

Sounds like it's probably the sync jack on the Jupiter 6 that's the problem. Have you had a tech look at your JP-6? Not yet... I was finally able to boot into Roland code and create somewhat of a patch without it bugging out and arpeggiated it. The external clock triggers fine from the Linn in Rola...

Re: Jupiter 6 Europa arpeggiator sync to LinnDrum

I'm bumping this thread from last year because I was never able to get it resolved, and Jeffrey from Synthcom hasn't responded to my recent query about a software patch or upgrade, or anything that can make this thing work... I have done a reset of the Europa software, following whatever procedures ...

Re: MKIII Arp Odyssey ever have factory wood sides?

Yes! ^^^^^^^ Although, mine does not have the little ARP logo on it. But it is the very thin wood sides just like the one pictured. Also my rear hinge is different, it looks like this: http://www.wavemeister.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/ARP3.jpg As opposed to this: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2...

MKIII Arp Odyssey ever have factory wood sides?

Does anyone know if ARP ever used thin (veneer) wood sides on any of the MkIII Odysseys? Mine is slightly different than the ones I usually see photos of, that have the leather sides and the hinges on the top of the cover... mine has wood sides and a different style hinge on the back. I've seen a fe...

Korg KR55 and Roland CR-800 maintenance...

Anybody think that re-capping, at least the power caps, would bring down some of that high-pitched noise on the output? It's actually not really that bad but it was obvious on a quiet track I was testing out the other day. I also don't know if it's a cap thing or if it's bleed from the cymbal etc. E...

Re: Jupiter 6 Europa arpeggiator sync to LinnDrum

The 2.0 beta (which I've been testing for 10 years now - hopefully one day Jeffrey will finish it) has probs with external trig sync. So... does this mean with all external devices? I ask because I just played around tonight trying to sync my new KR55 and CR8000 to the arp on the Jupiter and it jus...

Re: Just picked up a Roland CR8000 and Korg Rhythm 55!

Well I got a chance to play around with them tonight for a bit and I'm really happy to finally own these. They're not anywhere near as 'flexible' as say the LinnDrum, but for on-the-fly good rhythms with punch, they are inspiring to play with and groove to. Here are a few more good pictures after ba...

Just picked up a Roland CR8000 and Korg Rhythm 55!

Two drum machines I have been wanting to get for some time now... Simmons SDSV demo video

Posting this here because the SDSV is essentially a modular drum synth which uses SSM2044 filters on each of the modules. I recorded the audio on my Tascam 388 reel-to-reel, through a DBX 164 compressor for some extra punch, and bounced into Logic to sync to the video. Sorry about the darkness, I se...

Re: FIXED Simmons SDSV Tom Tom module noise not working

One more update - ready for some crazy bad luck? The SSM on the 'new' card I just received in the mail today blew up. I had it fixed in 5 minutes, A) because it was already socketed, and B) because now I know what to look for, but man... talk about a serious letdown. It was working prior to me doing...

Re: FIXED Simmons SDSV Tom Tom module noise not working

Well, I fixed it.... It was IC13 and IC14. So - when I replaced IC13 I obviously used a socket, but I overlooked that there were 2 pads on the top side of the circuit board that needed to be soldered (4 and 7). When I put in the socket I neglected to do this. So I started off bad  Although, as...

Re: Simmons SDSV Tom Tom module noise not working

Update- replaced IC14 MC1458 with an LM1458; now I can hear noise on the output although very slight. With the old chip I was just getting a pop (if the module was set to produce nothing but noise). So I'm closer...

Re: Simmons SDSV Tom Tom module noise not working

Ok well I swapped the SSM with no change. I put the old one back and confirmed signal on pin 1 and pin 3 are there and identical, and pin 13 varies on the scope and the multimeter when the noise knob is adjusted. IC 13 has also been swapped out with a new LM301. I did try swapping out the 2N5172 als...
