Re: Have Arturia kinda missed their chance with the Minibrut

. The point of this "dumb" thread, to me, is that in the opening question the underlying impression was Arturia had a one year jump on mini MS-20 and Sub Phatty and blew a big volume sale because of production and distribution issues. Yeah, Arturia did miss a windfall there. I had just about settled...

Re: Let's Dissect Geddy Lee's Use of Synthesizers; '82 - 84'

. GEDDY LEE described the OBERHEIM 8 Voice as a "WHITE ELEPHANT" (literally!) and phased it out after recording Moving Pictures. The OB-X was his main poly axe on Moving Pictures and Signals and was the one that he performed manually on stage. Signals added an OB-Xa to the side for sequences. The RO...

Re: New Korgs

. Excellent news both regarding the mini scale and street price. KORG has not disappointed me since I picked up my Polysix in 1984! That stated, I really, very, very much wanted to acquire the ARTURIA Minibrute, but the perpetual delays and postponements have compelled me to drop my name from that w...

Yeah, why did manufacturers abandon the great two-and-a-HALF octave monosynth keyboards of the past!?!

Well, at least there is the DSI MoPho!

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

oo I have been using the Monotron to filter my drum machine and considered the Mopho Keyboard or Dark Energy for wider analog functionality. Now the MiniBrute arrives and the choice is clear - a tight piece of solid kit with a keyboard (sorry, Dark Energy) and without distracting kitchen sink preset...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7O946lG7Ik oo :) SOLD! I have been waiting for a long time for some company to provide this instrument: DSI came close with the MoPho Keyboard, as did Doepfer with the Dark Energy. Here, now, Arturia has done it! This MiniBrute is a 21st Century SH-101 or CS-01 with ...

Re: equipment that instantly inspires workflow

oo I find the magic comes most often from whatever instrument or combination I have set aside for awhile. This week it is my ZOOM MRT-3B drum machine into KORG Monotron into KORG Mini-KP. Next week it might be my CASIO MT-70's "jazz organ" preset played through a phase shifter, or acoustic guitar. I...

Re: Trent Reznor on The Social Network score

. He WON! Just watched Mr. NIN (and Atticus Ross) accept an Oscar! Ironic because in the interview that starts this thread, Reznor said he was advised to not get his hopes up high because sweeping string sections always seem to win, not a cozy room stuffed full of analog synths. Awesome . . . :D .

Re: Trent Reznor on The Social Network score

. This glimpse into Reznor's home studio is the synth equivalent of the Cooper Classics Collection showroom located a few blocks from my house: http://www.cooperclassiccars.com/ He's composed a great soundtrack to a film for which, sadly, I have otherwise not an atom of interest. But good for him: a...

Re: Let's Dissect Geddy Lee's Use of Synthesizers; '82 - 84'

oo Good post! Twas the "Subdivisions" video that turned my attention from Bach minuets to multiple synthesizers. ;) I heard a brief interview on FM radio (Rockline?) back in the spring of 1984 during the start of the GUP tour. Geddy Lee was on stage during sound check and he demoed his synths for th...
