WoW! Give me a SOLARIS and a tin of THC tablets and I could easily suffer the two-year round trip to Mars without claustrophobia, boredom, or insanity!

Re: Real analogue synth from Korg: what would you buy?

I'll settle for a simple $400-600 single oscillator (w/ suboctave generator) monosynth with -12dB/oct LPF/HPF settings and an arpeggiator set in a classic microKorg chasis (rosewood side panels!).

OR

I'll expect a programmable "MonoPoly 2.0" that runs about $2,000.

Re: New Roland and/or Korg synths using REAL analog filters?

Well, to me the Monotron is fantastic news - how the f#$k can anyone complain about this, and at that price? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNNb18aFSQ4 :D oo I very much agree, Hybrid88. I have a "$100 Rule" arrangement with my wife -- any gear acquisition under that price is just fine, not even in...

Thanks for the positive feedback. Here is another new track of mine that uses the same instrumentation:

Here's an obscure one . . .

Edgar Froese - Sobornost (1981)

This one features a PPG Wave 2, PPG 340 B, PPG 380 EG, and an OBERHEIM OB-X

Re: Lead sound breakdown

oo I had never heard or Eric Norlander until I viewed this thread. He's a contemporary "master of the MiniMOOG" -- a slightly less technical, yet more accessible, Keith Emerson -- and he was born the same year as me. I really like his mix of MiniMOOG, A6 Andromeda, Hammond Model D organ, and Mellotr...

"tsst-tsst!'

Hi-Hats! . . . My rhythms almost always come to me first from the crisp, percussive hiss of a hi-hat pattern. I build kick, snare, tom, and secondary percussion around the dynamics of that tinny treble timbre.

oo I've been to Guitar Center and Sam Ash Music shops both around Philly and New York City and I've noted the SH-201 display model is always turned OFF when every other piece of gear in the room is turned ON and twinkling like Christmas lights and asking to be tweaked and played. Ladytron's first two albums -- 604 as well as Light & Magic -- probably feature some ER-1. Daniel Hunt mentions owning and using one in the band's interview on the KORG website:
