Re: over-consumerism

oo The euphoria one feels when one gets into making music -- or returns to it after college, a long work project, whatever -- happens in synch with initial gear acquisition , building a core rig or a studio, so GAS, I believe, is the psychological desire to keep that particular giddy flame burning. ...

Re: Winter NAMM 2010

Another thing: I love the little battery powered Kaossilator. In a big format it's a little less tempting. I think I'd rather pick up the KP3, or better yet, the MiniKP.) oo Good move! The KORG Mini-KP is the bomb . . . incredibly musically useful and well constructed, too. p.s. Kaossilator Pro (no...

My 1st 2 Tracks of 2010

oo Hi. I just finished setting up my little home studio in the corner of my new home in Manhattan (I just got married and moved in with my bride who, being a life-long fan of Nick Rhodes, is synth friendly). Space is at a minimum here, yet I find my creativity flows better within a fixed space. So, ...

Re: Recording without a computer

Does anyone here record without using any software or computer at all? I come close. I used a Tascam DP-04. The only software I use is the Tascam's operating system. The only time I use the computer is to burn CD's or change my masters into MP3's and post them. oo Cool. I do the same with my ZOOM M...

Re: what is the best synthesizer from the 2000's (2000-2010) ?

Here is my spontaneous top five . . . 1) microKORG -- for its exceptional value 2) V-Synth -- for its multilayered sonic versatility 3) Andromeda -- for its total analog domination 4) Virus TI Polar -- for its design 5) Electribe series -- for its collective infinite intuitive musical possibilities ...

Hi. Batteries for mine last about two full working evening sessions in the studio. That's programmng and playing and leaving it on blinking for about 3 to 4 hours a session . . . so, yeah, about 6 to 8 hours of battery life.

Heh - thanks for that! I'v printed off your post and will test it out. Sounds exciting. I'm really enjoying the 1000p and used it live already. It seems to be one of the best examples of 'mad casiotones'. I wonder how many other people are using them still? oo Hi. I still use a CASIO MT-70 (the one...

Re: JSRockit - 2 Rhymes, 3 Beats, 4 Minutes

I went back to my roots and made a song with my Monomachine only. It's not really a song though, just exactly what the title states. It's minimal of course and underproduced, but I'm fine with that now...I've given up caring about sound quality...I'll just focus on pumping out songs. If you have a ...

Re: how do u record ur drum machine?

oo Hi. Here is the recording chain I use . . . drum machine (stereo out) --> mini-KP (out) --> (audio in) Electribe EA-1 mkII (stereo out) --> mixer (stereo out) --> recorder A lot of what I do is real-time recording with the mini-KP used to effect the beats and the Audio In on the Electribe used to...

Re: Ladytron's Drum machines and sequencing??

oo The band uses a (great) drummer live. As for the studio . . . An interview with Daniel Hunt on the KORG website states they have used the Electribe ER-1. Some of the sounds on 604 and Light & Magic resemble the old ROLAND TR-808; I'm sure the band, like Depeche Mode, has a collection of vintage d...
