Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

We've come a long way... https://sagagames.de/ithumb/show/card2015-2017.jpg First and latest revision, as well as a custom, unique case that is not for sale. ;) Does the card come "naked" like that, or will there be some sort of covering? I don't expect to remove the card very much, but will it be ...

Re: Opinions on upcoming TR-808 and SH-101 Boutiques

I own the TB-03, TR-09 and just bought a TR-08. I really, REALLY enjoy the TR-08. Having an authentic TR-808 interface is WAY more inspiring that playing 808 samples from an Akai MPC or NI Battery (both of which I have and which I have previously used for 808 sounds). My only complaint is the lack o...

Re: Casio RZ-1 Custom Firmware

I used to own an RZ-1 like 30 years ago. I never used the standard kick/snare and only used the sample pads for those sounds :) My biggest complaint was lack of tuning and the fact that the thing gave off this faint high-pitched buzz/whine from the audio outs.

Best bet is to find a broken/damaged DX7 that happens to have a functioning mainboard.

Re: Which rom carts came with the Yamaha DX7 out of the box?

Early versions came with #1 and #2. Later versions (after '84 or so) came with #3 and #4. The patches on both pairs are pretty much the same I think. I got my DX7 in Christmas 1985 and it came with #3 and #4.

Re: Synths used on DeBarge Rhythm Of The Night?

The keyboard tracks on this song are like 80% Yamaha DX7. The analog synth pads you hear are either Oberheim OB-8 and/or Roland Jupiter 8.

Re: Thompson twins sound

For their "Into The Gap" album they used the Oberheim OBXa and the Sequential Prophet 5. Best thing is to get a virtual analog synth, because the FA06 is just a rompler workstation and you're stuck with the samples/sampled waveforms that come with the unit.

Re: Do synths today still use backup batteries to hold patch

Every 80's synth used a coin cell battery to retain patches after switching off, this could sometimes be very frustrating to repair if a battery holder wasn't installed; this continued into the 90's. As of now, synths like the microKorg don't use the battery backed patch system. I am sure synthesiz...

This cord isn't that hard to find. Hosa makes a compatible 2-conductor cable, it's listed as PWC-178.

Re: Reason 9.5 announces VST support

I use Reason differently than most people. I never use it as a full-purpose DAW. I only really use it as either a) A songwriting/demo tool, or b) A sequencer for live performance use (Low CPU overhead plus built-in instruments eliminates the need to sequence external hardware gear). The VST addition...

Re: Popularity of Korg N364/Korg M1/Yamaha DX7 in Latino mus

It's odd sounding music, to me. They seem to really like the sound of brass instruments with the mic shove right into the bell. That misses out on a huge range of tones and warmth of the brass. It's more to do with logistics and economics. They could have a full brass section, but that would involv...

Re: Popularity of Korg N364/Korg M1/Yamaha DX7 in Latino mus

Most likely because those synths have presets "everyone" uses in the industry. They don't buy a Korg M1 because it's an awesome synthesizer, but because it does that sound or this sound. Also the fact that these synths are popular, affordable and easy and available to purchase. They're not rare or ...
