MIDI wouldn't be any problem at all, even with current-version stuff. It's a P-M 900MHz; get a small external and you can easily track audio with the thing. The eee is a sweet little machine, I just wish it was closer to the price they announced it for. There's a lot of people using it as a portable...

Re: Alternatives to lugging out my gear live

...and everytime you change something, like a patch, or move a slider, the volume levels get screwed up and the guitar player bitches because he gets drowned out, or one of the synths is louder than the others. Get a small submixer for the synths and stick a compressor on the outs, doesn't have to ...

Just plug it in, it should respond to damper automatically.
Are you sure it's the right polarity pedal?

Could try something like highlife and minihost. The only standalone ones that I know of are commercial.

Patches- galaxy plus editors. f**k gibson for killing opcode. (among other things)

Audio/effects routing, pff. It's like herding cats. I don't bother trying to set anything up permanent because I know I'll be changing it in a week anyway.

Cheap + HDD camera don't really go together

You really should look into getting a firewire PCMCIA card. Old deckless 3CCD + sony D8 walkman + firewire = cheap DV lulz! There are D8 camcorders that have usb instead of firewire, but there's nothing better than consumer grade. Sony was trying to push like six different video formats at once so k...

Everything already said is true and I'll add that I don't hate the AWM2 drums. A lot of people rag on them but there are a lot worse sounding ones out there. It's a nice "freebie" to get a simple 32-voice rompler in the box.
They sound better than most of drums on the RM1x, imo.

If you're worried about not being able to find boot disks, the EPS' bootdisk is easy to make and the OS loads pretty quick.
I thought the EPS 16+ had flash ROM you could burn the OS to so you wouldn't need the OS disk to boot.
There was a third party flash upgrade but AFAIK, it's not made anymore.

I don't think I'd pay more than $100 for an 1100 sold locally. Even if it had options.

The TX-rack(216/816)'s modules are a little quieter but not amazingly so. The TX802 is silent in comparison, and can eat DX7 patches, but doesn't sound the same.
Wasn't there an article somewhere about replacing the output section of a DX7 to quiet it down?

I'm not certain that this is a valid lament. Tech moved very quickly from having almost nothing up through vector synths, dedicated programmers (Roland's PGs especially), "performance knobs" or q-links, right back to Everything Old is New Again with stuff like the JD-800 and JP-8000. Even "the" digi...

I'd wager something like a couple DMP11s into a Tascam 122 would be hilarious. Toss in a few nanocompressors and an old midiverb for XTREEM QUALITY. Change the 122 to a 134(or 238!) for lulz and marvel at the wonders of tape syncing. I only say a DMP because they're cheapish and sequenceable. A ratt...
