It doesn't really interest me too much. It just adds an LFO to a very mediocre sounding synth. It's like putting salt on a turd sandwich...it still tastes like c**p.

Yes you can't even compare it to a Poly 800...except maybe that they both have the number 8 in their name...and they both have nice choruses. Amzing that for less than the price of the SH-201 you get something that sounds 1000 times better. And programming with out the PG-800 is actually pretty simp...

I don't think it's from Korg there has been considerable reverse engineering going on with the Poly 800 from hobbyists (not to be confused with hobbits) to improve the coding. I'm sure this is something from one of them.

It could be worse: You could have a MIDI out but no MIDI in. That would really suck, since well it has no keyboard. Then you'd have to hook it up to a computer.

Anybody else think the Bloefeld front page is lame?

I really like the "soundtrack" preset on my JX-8P. I think it's a very well programed patch and I would have no problems using it in a song. I don't like using presets too much, but when they're just that good then I see no problem.

No you can't do this. The SysEx implementation on this Poly 800 only means you can upload patches to it via SysEx. But SysEx and MIDI CC are two very different things. There are some 80's synths that let you edit them in real time via SysEx...such as the Roland JX-8P. But to do that you either need ...

If you think your synths have weird parameter names, you should see the MaxiKorg/MiniKorg. It has parameters such as traveler, bright, expand, percussion, and singing. Then add to that the controllers go the opposite way that synths regurally do, but I guess you can name the parameters whatever you ...

Sorry,

I'm not too familiar with the AX-73 but is this portamento any different from regular portamento? I remember the first time I found out portamento and glide were the same thing I felt stupid and relieved at the same time.

I'm assuming it means analog style waveforms such as square, saw, sine, etc. The waveforms are all digital...meaning they read the information from memory. Although I did hear rumor that the sawtooth waveform was analog in the sense of the Juno's analog oscillators.

 I'm the guy who was "pissing and moaning"? A MIDI out is not something one should have to pay a premium for. What were Waldorf thinking? They make a monster synth in a tiny package, with practically no knobs, then make it necessary to connect the thing to a computer in order to control it pro...

I was saying that for the ensuing argument that will take place here. Basically it's all about which you like better. The only benefit of owning one or the other is if you have a highly superficial client who is stuck in 1989 and DEMANDS you use a MAC. Or if you want to use Logic or Garage Band. The...
