Re: Slim Phatty

the little amount of info I can find is that polychain is kind of crappy on these new moogs and that there are a lot of midi glitches and stuck notes, which would make sense since MOOG DOESN'T MAKE ANY DEMOS OF POLYCHAINING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOO! So I've given up on ever thinking of trying to ...

Re: JP4 vs SH7

it's a tough one, I think your pro one will serve as a great replacement but not the others at all. Even so the sh7 is a special sounding synth with a sexy roland sound and LOOK mreeeeooooow the jupiter 4 also makes a great monosynth and an ok poly. for awhile I was obsessed about it but have moved ...

Re: reflections on NOT having an Andromeda

I just wonder now that alesis isn't making them anymore and after being acquired by numark whether it will be a pain in the a*s for support when an A6 dies or runs into serious trouble. Give it a couple years when A6s start to fail... I've seen people selling dead A6s over the last couple years who ...

Re: reflections on NOT having an Andromeda

Ive owned 3 or 4 and kept going back to it only to be disappointed by it's sound every time. If I were you I would move on and get a classic poly like an oberheim 4 voice, prophet 5, OBX, cs-80 for the price these assholes are asking for andromedas right now you might as well get a classic. Also I w...

Re: Moog Voyager XL

Wasn't the MacBeth M5 $5k? I think the m5n was like $6000 in the states when it was available, I wouldn't have bought it new but I just bought one for $4500 shipped and am soooooo stoked.... 8-) But the more I think of it I would prefer this XL over the voyager of course, I mean it does look pretty...

Re: Dubstep Production

you're right about what sidechaining does obviously, and it was probably done in a subtle way at first then people realized it sounds cool when you crank it up. But wobble bass serves NO FUNCTION as a production technique, it just sounds cool and that is that. You're just looking for information or ...

Re: Dubstep Production

You're over-thinking s**t. Wobble bass is used because it sounds cool. The trance pumping effect is used because it sounds (to some) cool. And so on, and so forth. There'll always be some pedantic prick trying to make it into something intellectual - ignore it. what he said, it just sounds good and...

Re: Dubstep Production

no worries, I can be negative sometimes  I don't think there is a logical reason for it being done from a production standpoint like how sidechaining is done to let the other instruments breath, wobble bass just sounds hella retarded (good) especially when you're on drugs and listening to it o...

Re: Dubstep Production

you asked: another question, what is up with the wobble bass? is it the result of sidechaining in some way, is there some logical production reason for it, or is it just a modulated synth line that people happen to like? And what type of synths are typically used? I was clearly answering these quest...

Re: To buy or not to buy: Emulator II+

I've owned a couple and guess what? none of them ever worked right... :( Unless you have a chance on buying a local EII+ that is in good working shape I would say don't do it man... you're better off buying something that will help your workflow and won't require lots of servicing. I would rather ow...

Re: Dubstep Production

but to answer your question, simply get ableton and use the simpler sample thingy and put a squarewave sample in it. Then set the lfo to the cutoff frequency of the filter then wobble away into the night... That wasn't my question. Oh man I'm really sorry, my bad bro... was just trying to help you ...

Re: Dubstep Production

dubstep sounds like tweaker music  good teeth grinding beats. seriously it's a bit too dark, cold, digital for me personally sometimes but I do like me some wobble bass. I will say it's refreshing to hear downtempo music in a club rather than house music for sure. I'm glad to hear people are sa...

Re: Korg • PS-3200 - mystery synth

korg ps series seem way overpriced to me... I mean 5k for a divide down single osc per voice synth? they sound pretty weak for a poly if you ask me, like a modularized korg delta

they do look pretty cool though
