Re: Korg Polysix - resonance doesn't work + other issues

Even if you've already replaced the battery, minor or even invisible battery leakage can start a cancerous chain reaction on traces on the cpu board. Everything you mention hints at chaos in that section. Can you post a pic of the cpu board is and around the battery location?

Re: fs1r - any tips for instant gratification?

There's an amazing web-based Flash editor for format sequences!

You can convert wave files to FSeqs, edit them then create a sysex file to upload to the fs1r:

Re: Solton Ketron Programmer 24 a.k.a. Italo Disco Machine :

I used the Solton Programmer 24 to make a few italo-ish tracks.

On this one, the Solton did the bassline, most of the drums, the synth stabs, the filtered synth melody and the organ pads:

Why model the Yamaha SU-700? That era of Yamaha samplers is clean as h**l. Not much sonic imprint to speak of.

Re: Bringing a Yamaha CS70M back from the dead (hopefully)

That PSU is convoluted junk. I had to buy a second meanwell switching PSU (+/-15V stepped down to +10/-5V) to power the +10V and -5V lines which are mainly used for the digital section. Those are originally tapped and stepped down from the +/-15V section. 8.2V instead of 10V is going to cause nothin...

Re: Yamaha Reface

Full PreenFM2 kits will likely be available again in Sept. Boards and chips are still on sale: http://ixox.fr/shop/ And as I mentioned, you can buy an STM32F4Discovery board for 17€ and make your own DIY version. Adding controls would be simple enough as all parameters are midi controllable: http://...

Re: Yamaha Reface

PreenFM is considered to be an excellent open source FM synth and it's been ported to the STM32F4 discovery board (the one above, but minus the LCD)

Re: New Elka Synthex?

"COMPUTER INTERFACE MIDI output, serial chaining with other equipment" The lack of a standard midi input pretty much counts as "no midi" in my books :P Anyhow, that wasn't the point of my post: it was rather to point out that they're using the original parts... there's very little other rationale fo...

Look, no midi (or at least perhaps it's an option): http://bringelkaback.com/img/product-renders/SYNTHEX-VIEW14.jpg This picture of the back from their website tells me that they've got a whole bunch of old stock that they want to assemble into working synths: First the computer interface only appea...

Re: Jupiter-8 minor issues (autotune, sync, env keyfollow)

TI had a bad batch of chips around 2011 to 2013. This has led to problems with the various Minimoog Voyagers: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/924733-another-oberheim-ob-x-saved-harm.html Re.DCB: unless you can somehow source that board, it ain...

Re: Modal (Modulus) Goes Insane at Messe: three new synths

commodorejohn wrote:$5500? Ouch. I suppose it's got an extra octave and another two voices over the P6, but at that price I'd just wait for a good deal on a Jupiter-8...nice feature set, though.

There are no more good deals on JP-8s... some are pushing over $10k these days.
