Re: what is a modern equivalent to the Roland SH2

I dunno, the 2nd oscillator on an SH2 is really hard to beat (pardon the pun). You can get in the ballpark with the Yves' Saw-Animator on the Arturia, but it's definitely not as flexible. The coolest thing is that you can disable keyboard tracking of the 2nd oscillator on the SH2. It's a raw beast, ...

Re: Yamaha RS7000 vs. MPC 60

Zamise - I've always used a c**p load of drum loops that I cut up and arrange in Wavelab and I've never had problems lining everything up after loading them into the RS7000. Some of my tracks even have 4 or 5 simultaneous loops in addition to midi-triggered percussion from the RS7000: http://www.you...

Re: Yamaha RS7000 vs. MPC 60

Remember, we are talking about a typical deviation on the order of a couple of milliseconds. And hi-hats sound better when they have a bit of randomness thrown in :P But seriously, I've produced about fifteen 12" records with my RS7000's and these timing variations are virtually imperceptible. I wou...

Re: Is the Odyssey MKIII really the most common model?

FWIW, I've got a run-down whiteface sitting in storage in Canada. It was purchased at an estate sale a few years ago for $75 lol.

Re: What is the original of this song?

This means you have a neuron dedicated specifically to that song. How do you feel about that? Feels great, man 8-) I can't believe I registered to post in this forum just to answer this question... it's Control by Janet Jackson. No, "Blind Date - Your heart keeps burning" was released in 1985 and "...

like some kind of unsightly parasite, the micromodular is still living happily within my rs7000:

my dream is to somehow shave 3kg from this 7.5kg beast... it would make it a lot easier to tour with.

i built a phrase/pattern sequencer in april. it's loosely based on the RM1x/RS7000 sequencing style, built using the MIDIbox hardware platform and programmed from scratch in C: http://sneak-thief.com/b11.jpg http://sneak-thief.com/b12.jpg http://sneak-thief.com/b15.jpg http://sneak-thief.com/modular...

it's looks minimal because the big fat DCO chip is sitting underneath the keyboard. the italian-made SGS-Ates chip (M110) is a DCO/keyboard-scanner. it also control the keyboard tracking for the filter. if it ever dies, you can replace it with a custom burned chip: http://www.milton.arachsys.com/nj7...

i midified a jen sx1000 last month - i used a ucapps.de midibox core board and 2 digital-out boards. the digital-out boards were connected to 37 photoMOS chips that were connected to each key contact. works great! if i wanted, i could have added the midibox analog-out board to control some of the po...
